Love it or hate it, the UK is currently planning on leaving the European Union
The UK has left the European Union. Growing apart doesn't change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled. I'm glad for that.

Manchester Airport routes beyond Thomas Cook

"Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see significant improvements to the T1 infrastructure anytime soon. It seems the terminal building may eventually be demolished but it's not clear what will happen to Pier B. Indications are that the eastern side gates may be accessed from T3 and those on the west side from T2 but I'm not aware of specific plans to improve the pier internally or realign it as was once suggested. As far as new airlines are concerned, I hope they are financially stable after MAN's recent experiences with Jet Airways and Thomas Cook, but in today's changing aviation environment stability isn't necessarily everlasting. If there's one positive from the failure of Jet, it was that the short lived route to Mumbai demonstrated strong demand for the market. New services to China and India would be very welcome on long haul. It will be just as interesting in my view to see what further developments Virgin/Delta intend to bring to MAN."......

Leeds Boeing 747 memorabilia

"Today, a selection of Boeing 747 photos at LBA, made up of Wardair, Corsair, Virgin, and United Arab Emirates. Sadly, due to work and other commitments I never was able to see such as Air Hong Kong or the BA 747 doing its demo flights to display the new Landor livery. I did see the BA 747 G-AWND on 4th November 1984 but due to only posessing a Kodak Instamatic back then, the photos I have are not worth posting. Perhaps someone else has good photos of these and would like to post them to complete the LBA 747 collection? My photos include Boeing 747 100, 200, 300 and SP versions."......

If you were the boss of Birmingham Airport...

"So ladies and gents a bit of an open forum/debate for you all.. If you were in charge of Birmingham Airport right now, what changes would you make? What would you do to improve the airport, would you enlarge the terminal? would you give an airline any deal they wanted? Would you make changes to taxiways/runways/hangers etc..... Would you lower/increase airport costs? Would you hire new senior management? Would you rename the airport? over to you".....

Review: Sat in a bar in Singapore...

"Currently sat in bar in Singapore trying to catch up on life drinking overpriced beer. Trip to LHR from Leeds on Saturday went well. Must say on taxiing to T5 at Heathrow a lot of the BA aircraft did have poor well weathered paint jobs on them, I’m not surprised BA now has lost its world favourite airline status. Flight from Leeds was about 80% full. Before I set off to LBA on Saturday to the flight a friend was telling me that her relatives were travelling down from Arbroath to catch the afternoon Malaga flight with Jet2 so people do travel to get to LBA even with all it’s failings."......

Review: Birmingham to Lanzarote with TUI

"Arrived at the airport in the wee small hours to find a queue already forming at the TUi desks. I think spurred on by this they opened check-in 15 mins early which meant that none of the self service machines worked with all requiring a reboot, it didn't take long and the staff on hand were very jovial. Security took no time at all with us walking straight to a small queue in one of the lanes, again the staff were very polite and efficient. The departure lounge was quiet as we made our way to Wetherspoons but it wasn't long before it started to fill up, after a quick tour of the shops to grab some last minute bits and pieces we took up our usual spot in the pier. Boarding was announced well ahead of time, gate 58 I think it was and it wasn't long before"......

Rugby World Cup Latest...

"What another incredible performance from Japan. The speed of their handling was spellbinding at times. How far can they go, especially with the backing of the crowd? Before the tournament began did anyone really believe they would top their group with four wins out of four? Next weekend's quarter-finals are:
England v Australia New Zealand v Ireland
The above two quarter-final winners will play each other in the semi-final
Wales v France Japan v South Africa
The above two quarter-final winners will play each other in the semi-final Anyone want to have a stab at the four quarter-final winners? I'm useless at this sort of thing which is why I never did the football pools. Anyway, I'll go for Australia, New Zealand, Wales and South Africa although my heart says Japan. Could then be a New Zealand v Wales final.".....
