Government urged to prioritise infrastructure spending
  • 218

The Government should champion investment in regional infrastructure to support economic growth and help eradicate the north-south divide, according to a new report published today. The 32-page report, ‘Investing in the Future’ by the economic consultancy, Metro Dynamics, concludes that the Government should work more closely with regional and city leaders to ensure that economic ambitions of all regions of England are reflected in national priorities. In a series of recommendations, the report says that the Government should explicitly promote the Shared Prosperity Fund for regional...
City of Leeds Nostalgia - Thread

I was trolling through some old Photobucket pictures and found these which gave me an idea for a new thread. The nostalgia threads in the airport forums work well so I thought maybe it's worth a go here too. This is known as Granary Wharfe and it was taken at Leeds City Station back in about 2007 just after the worldwide recession kicked in. GranWharfe1 by Aviador posted Nov 9, 2017 at 11:26 AM This is Broadcasting Place in the heart of the Leeds student district. The building was finished with iron clad Broadcasting Place - Leeds by Aviador posted Nov 9, 2017 at 11:26 AM Leeds' tallest...

Manchester: The big revelation...?

"The M56 link and 1993 MSCP expansion / level 4 drop off adaptation may not happen. Pier 4 is still a possibility; if it happens it’s not part of MAN-TP but the project will allow for it to be added in the future.Renaming of taxiways etc. will be in stages beginning this December. All the west side pier one gates are identical for both type serviceable, layout and location of everything. Same for at least the seven Zulu remote stands furthest north west. These remotes are “gates without air bridges” - serviced by busses but with the same facilities as a contact gate. Speaking of busses there’s new ones on the way Much was made of the slide in my earlier post showing the travel time for the busses. They’re confident the new airside perimeter only road layout will expedite bus times.Eventually the west side pier B gates will become T2, the east side T3. What happens to the actual pier was unclear. The big revelation (or not) was something to be announced soon - the next pier built may be pier 2 and then followed by pier 3. This hint was given some weight with the slide above showing state of play for 2020, with the large “pier 2 construction” zone. Still in discussion so we will see"......

Your views on ITV's "Yorkshire's Airport"

"So before I made judgement on the programme Yorkshire Airport, I decided to allow it to run a couple of episodes as I didn't feel like one was enough to go on.First of all I must say I am embarrassed to call it my local airport, it doesnt portray the airport in a good light at all. The manager who seen fixing the customer experience scores and saying love you down the radio is hardly professional, same for the guy who moved people's seats by their name and if he liked the name or not. It shows the airport as run by a couple of amateurs. The guys on the ramp was the only part of the second episode which was bearable to watch. Swissport and the team of LBA have truly let the airport down, made it out to be a clown airport. I can see why jet2 decided not to be involved in the filming and i can hardly blame them. What's more frustrating for me is I used to work at the airport and it was nothing like this, it's like the normal everyday staff who actually keep the operation running smoothly have been replaced by wannabe celebs whom are more like the class clown".....

Review: Birmingham to Lanzarote with Jet2.com

"Have just arrived in Lanzarote courtesy of Jet2. My opinion so far? Fantastic airline, they left bang on time at 3.25 and landed 20 minutes ahead of schedule, 10/10 for punctuality. The check-in staff and cabin crew seem to really love their job and greeted us with a genuine smile when we encountered them. I kind of wish they toned it down a little with the automated announcements, but I'm just nitpicking really. The food service was done on time and the flight was pretty relaxed. The aircraft was 19 years old (G-JZHH) but it looked quite new to me with comfortable seats and generous legroom. To echo many others opinions, I definitely recommend flying on Jet2, in many areas, they give other airlines a run for their money especially regarding customer service and with the amount of legroom"......
