Ryanair: Bristol-Dublin-Bristol

BRS-DUB My wife and I recently used Ryanair for the first time. We’ve flown with the rival easyJet on numerous occasions but my wife was always dubious about Ryanair because of its past poor customer relations reputation. We needed to get to Dublin for an escorted rail and coach tour of the northern part of the Republic and Northern Ireland. In the past we’ve used Air Lingus Regional between Bristol and Dublin but this time we decided to give Ryanair a try. We purchased their Priority Plus package which at just under £137 in total for us both was not much more than half the Air Lingus...
Wildlife at airports

As I'm interested in wildlife as well as aviation, I'm often looking out of aircraft windows when taxing to see what creatures might be about. Recently when I was watching aircraft at LPL doing the Kiev flights, I was aware how many birds were around me in the grass around the taxiway and shrubland surrounding. I saw Kestrels Blackcaps, Swallows and Whitethroat , but most exciting was quite a number Grey Partridge, a once common farmland bird which is now on the countries "red list" being in severe decline. They seem to have a little safe haven around Liverpool Airport, which was great to...

City of Leeds Nostalgia - Thread

I was trolling through some old Photobucket pictures and found these which gave me an idea for a new thread. The nostalgia threads in the airport forums work well so I thought maybe it's worth a go here too. This is known as Granary Wharfe and it was taken at Leeds City Station back in about 2007 just after the worldwide recession kicked in. GranWharfe1 by Aviador posted Nov 9, 2017 at 11:26 AM This is Broadcasting Place in the heart of the Leeds student district. The building was finished with iron clad Broadcasting Place - Leeds by Aviador posted Nov 9, 2017 at 11:26 AM Leeds' tallest...

What is your favourite aircraft type and why? Is it aesthetics/sound/size/comfort etc.? Please choose up to three aircraft type in the poll and then explain why? If the one you want isn't in the poll, just say in the comments section. Hopefully we can get some good discussion. I will be doing mine later on.
Which is the smallest airport you have flown from?

What is the smallest airport you have flown from? For me it was the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club at Nympsfield in the Cotswolds above the Severn Vale near Stroud in Gloucestershire. My first and so far only glider trip was in a Schleicher KA-13 which was towed into the air and the pilot, who was brave enough to let me 'have a go' for few minutes, kept us circling, riding the thermals for nearly an hour. More recently I was taken up in a Tiger Moth from what is perhaps pretentiously called Torquay Airport in Victoria, Australia. It's a grass strip but the company running it...

CAA Grounds Boeing 737-MAX amid safety concerns A spokesperson for the UK Civil Aviation Authority said: "Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the tragic incident in Ethiopia on Sunday. "The UK Civil Aviation Authority has been closely monitoring the situation, however, as we do not currently have sufficient information from the flight data recorder we have, as a precautionary measure, issued instructions to stop any commercial passenger flights from any operator arriving, departing or overflying UK airspace. "The UK Civil Aviation Authority's safety directive will be in place...

Global Warming or Global Cooling?

What are your thoughts on climate change? For the last two decades at lest we have been spoon fed a global warming agenda, "the Earth is burning up", our "use of fossil fuels is causing Co2 to spiral out of control". More recently the IPCC lead by the United Nations released a report saying we have to take immediate action to save the planet from catastrophe. During the 90's I went along with this narrative. As a person who has always been interested in weather and the climate I have always followed the subject with much interest and like most people I went along with the idea that man...

Leave meant many different things to different people at the time of the 2016 referendum and for many Leave voters it meant something entirely different to the governments own interpretation of Leave which is what Teresa Mays deal is. The Conservative government itself is split for exactly the same reason as they interpret the vote in a different way. That was the biggest problem with the In or Out option as the vote didn't mention things like the Good Friday agreement. The Leavers quickly start dropping off when out means x, y or z. Remain means just one thing.

What the hell is Prince Phillip doing at the age of 98 driving a range rover. ;-(

True, TCX has seen better days but their LBA offering was already on its arse so there's no excuse to have lost what little was left. At least Bill Savage secured a base from the then Airtours, and Britannia/Thomson. Now all lost. Meeson must be laughing. I really don't understand how Jet2 - a relative newcomer - seem to be able to get it right and the elder statesmen can only cut and run. Backhanders, maybe ?

Is it just me, or has LBA achieved nothing since David Outlaws and his gang have been in charge ? Terminal improvements aside, which are a legacy of the previous management, the airport just keeps on losing business. If I was AMP, I would be putting the genial Geordie on notice just now.
