Well, I bet few people saw that coming. That's certainly a coup for the airport. According to another website the CPH-NQY route begins on 28 June. There are no details of frequency or duration of the service. In the past SAS has operated short season summer routes from Stockholm to Bristol from the end of June to mid-August. I wonder if SAS sees this primarily as a route for Danish tourists to visit Cornwall along the lines of the Eurowings routes from Dusseldorf, Berlin and Stuttgart.

Went out Tues (18th) afternoon came back yesterday. Entered the central security are at 1pm and there wasn't even a queue. I find it most frustrating that you can't see onto the apron unless you pay £20+ (hopefully it will be better with the extension). There were 42 pax on board mainly seated at the back, push on time arrive DUS 20 mins early. Seated in 14A, about 2/3rds along the engine, seeing down OK but not across. Only one announcement from the flight deck, slightly garbled and the 2 stewards worked quietly and efficiently. I only spoke on disembarkation. Parked on a remote stand...

Wildlife at airports

As I'm interested in wildlife as well as aviation, I'm often looking out of aircraft windows when taxing to see what creatures might be about. Recently when I was watching aircraft at LPL doing the Kiev flights, I was aware how many birds were around me in the grass around the taxiway and shrubland surrounding. I saw Kestrels Blackcaps, Swallows and Whitethroat , but most exciting was quite a number Grey Partridge, a once common farmland bird which is now on the countries "red list" being in severe decline. They seem to have a little safe haven around Liverpool Airport, which was great to...

I was trolling through some old Photobucket pictures and found these which gave me an idea for a new thread. The nostalgia threads in the airport forums work well so I thought maybe it's worth a go here too. This is known as Granary Wharfe and it was taken at Leeds City Station back in about 2007 just after the worldwide recession kicked in. What is the smallest airport you have flown from? For me it was the Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club at Nympsfield in the Cotswolds above the Severn Vale near Stroud in Gloucestershire. My first and so far only glider trip was in a Schleicher KA-13 which was towed into the air and the pilot, who was brave enough to let me 'have a go' for few minutes, kept us circling, riding the thermals for nearly an hour. More recently I was taken up in a Tiger Moth from what is perhaps pretentiously called Torquay Airport in Victoria, Australia. It's a grass strip but the company running it...
