This is fantastic & will be booking next week for April but I’m a little confused.. why no June, July & August flights?
the aircraft will do a Faro flight on Monday, & Malaga on Friday, instead of Lisbon between June & September, so obviously they think more yields/revenue on the bucket & spade routes!
Post above explains why.

Worth posting for clarity. below is a map of all 50 routes being offered by jet2 in Summer 2020... Not half growth for their forth summer at the airport, growing from 4x aircraft to what now appears to be 14x aircraft +away bases.

Once they dip their toes into the Tagus along with the full loads, they will keep coming back. Maybe it will turn the tap on.

Yes clearly Jet2 are a plastic bucket and spade company, but the significance is for Birmingham having that link rather than Brummies having the link.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about Lisbon at the moment. As said it's a difficult place to get into and somewhere that Jet2 have been looking at for a while. Now they are in and the route will be up and running I'm sure that, in time, it will grow if the demand warrants it. So get booking folks :)

As for the summer gap. We have to remember that Jet2 are desperately scrambling around for aircraft to fill the void left by TCX but there is only so much that they can do in a relatively short space of time. If they have already committed the aircraft to AGP and FAO they won't want to be upsetting the good people who are prepared to pay the school holiday premium prices and potentially hand customers over to the competition. I'd also guess that peak time FAO and AGP holidays will make more money than a relatively new city break route. When it was first introduced Prague stopped for a whole summer season to accommodate Dalaman but both are now happily doing well :)

The growth trajectory has been nothing short of incredible.

Plug a couple of gaps in 2021 and I will be very happy indeed (y)

With the exception of the destinations currently serviced elsewhere on the network but not yet from BHX, the growth areas for future growth (if jet2 are so included) are obvious....

Further city break destinations, and
North Africa - Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and maybe even Isreal?

As previously discussed though, the ssue for jet2 isn't money or willingness, they've proved that with the demise of MON and TCX, its slot and aircraft availability.

Looking at a peak-summer Saturday in 2020, there are 14x aircraft required for the schedule (+2 on 2019).
The schedule currently shows the base as 8x B738s and 6x A321s (1x B738 night-stops in PMI, same as last year)

Out of the 6x A321s, 4x have the same seat layout, so assuming these are the new Jet2 aircraft (ex-TCX). The other two aircraft each have different seat-plans so I assumer one will be a SmartLynx aircraft (info from Jethros) and one will be from HiFly/Titan/another company.

If it is 6 a321 ( if ! ) ...where are 738 nr 9 and 10 moving to as bhx was planned at 10 x 738 and 4 x a321

Don't think we'll have 6 A321's......3 of our own plus 1 leased were hearing....don't forget that the Spanish based aircraft will also be doing rotations.
As I said, I’m going off the current schedule and current seat maps. Take a look for yourself, a peak-summer Saturday shows seat maps for 6x A321s. I’m sure it’ll all change before summer gets here, but that is what is showing at this moment in time. Either way, regardless of the make-up, 14x based aircraft required.
Regarding the B738s, BFS are replacing B733s with B738s and LBA replacing B752s with B738s. Plenty of B738s moving around, not to say that any will be removed from BHX though!

6 x 321's now showing on multiple days !

The 6x A321 have been there for a while so hopefully a good sign but until all the updates are confirmed it's probably wise to be cautious.

I would however keep an eye on the timetable in the coming weeks :)

Reported by Scottie Dog on the MAN forum that Jet2 have cancelled 28 A321 slots at MAN so maybe a nice capacity increase on the way but then again this is BHX so fingers crossed.
