Astral Aviation B744s (op by Air Atlanta Icelandic), operate 2x weekly (Tu & Su) into DSA, inbound from Nairobi and out to Liege. I believe this route is 3x weekly, but has been 2x weekly over the last month since I've been checking. However today, the third weekly flight has arrived from Nairobi. Another B744 is in DSA today, operating on behalf of Magma Aviation having arrived from ATL and departs later today to JFK.

Therefore, today sees 2x B744s visiting DSA, with both on the ground at the same time!

Air Atlanta Icelandic B747-45E(BDSF) (TF-AMR) - op on behalf of Magma Aviation, under a Air Atlanta Icelandic flight number
Arrived from Atlanta (ATL) at 08:20, departs to New York (JFK) at 15:15

Air Atlanta Icelandic B747-48E(FSCD) (TF-AMU) - op for Astral Aviation, under a Astral Aviation flight number
Arrived from Nairobi (NBO) at 10:10, departed to Liege (LGG) at 12:30

The routes pretty flexible operating 2 or 3 a week depending on demand the 747 generally is on the route however WGA MD11's operate also. The route has seen the following rotations over the last week 2X MD 11 and 3X 747.

The airport has seen a quite a number of occasions when two 747's has been on the ground at a time not sure if it has ever seen three.
The most interesting being Caroglux's 747 in the cutaway livery and a Silkway.

Well given recent events, I would expect a spike in freighter movements over the next couple of weeks at least. Freighters are in exceptionally high demand at the moment and DSA is well placed as a facility to respond to ad hoc requests.
The airport could really do with it, everywhere is suffering massively but DSA not having any domestic flights at all may see it have less commercial movements than any other UK airport over the next few weeks, walked past the terminal the other day could barely of been 100 cars in the car park.

G-VWND Virgin a330 just landed DSA for storage, G-VMNK also on route from LGW.
3 x TUI 737 due in later also for storage.
No need to re-iterate this I’m sure, but please don’t visit the airport to view movements, we’ll have to be satisfied with keeping an eye on FR 24 for now
