I hope so as it was a very accurate tool, I gave up on the TUi one a long time ago.

It was also a nice way to spot new routes as they appeared there before making it to the booking system.

Maybe they are removing it to clean it up (as the majority of recent routes appeared at the bottom of the page) and are coming back with even more new routes

TUi announced Alghero several times before it actually started. Catania had been running for a while.

I'm over the moon with both of these, getting back destinations that have been lost altogether is exactly what we need.

Pula is dropped from all bases after S21, similar to Murcia.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays launch two new Italian destinations from Birmingham Airport for Summer 22 – Sicily and Sardinia

1st April 2021: Jet2.com
and Jet2holidays have today announced the launch of flights and holidays to Sicily and Sardinia from Birmingham Airport for Summer 22, giving customers and independent travel agents across the region even more choice when it comes to enjoying beach holidays and city breaks in Italy.

The addition of the two stunning islands expands Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ Italian programme from Birmingham Airport to seven destinations and comes in response to strong and continued demand from local holidaymakers.

The leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist will operate weekly Wednesday services to Sicily from 4th May through to 26th October from Birmingham Airport. Flights will operate to Catania Airport, opening up a range popular resorts on the east coast of the island, which are just a short transfer away.

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and is a well-established destination with UK holidaymakers, offering everything from beach holidays to city breaks. With culture, cuisine, dramatic landscapes, mighty Mount Etna, and stunning beaches, Sicily has something for everyone.

Jet2holidays, the UK’s leading tour operator to Europe, is launching package holidays to Sicily with a fantastic choice of beach resorts on sale including Taormina, Taormina Mare, Giardini Naxos, Syracuse, Cefalu and Campofelice Di Roccella. Customers can take their pick from a selection of quality accommodation, with a range of star ratings and types of board basis available. In addition, packages are also on sale through Jet2CityBreaks to the historic city of Catania.

The companies are also putting flights and holidays on sale to Sardinia from Birmingham Airport. With weekly Sunday services operating into Olbia Airport from 29th May to 30th October, this opens up the east coast of Sardinia and a range of resorts which host some of the best beaches in Europe.

Sardinia offers customers the most authentic of Italian experiences and is on many people’s bucket list of must-see European beach destinations. With snow-white sand sloping into glimmering turquoise waters, customers can head to the Costa Smeralda for a glamorous seaside experience or head south of Olbia for a holiday with an authentic slant.

Again, Jet2holidays and Jet2CityBreaks is launching with a wide selection of hotels on sale, the majority enjoying a 4 & 5-star rating. Families and groups can also choose the privacy of a villa holiday with all the benefits of a package holiday, by booking through Jet2Villas.

Resorts on sale in Sardinia include Porto Cervo, Baia Sardinia, Budoni, San Teodoro, Cannigione, San Pantaleo, Orosei and Pittulongu, as well as city breaks to Olbia.

As a result of this expansion, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays now have seven Italian destinations on sale for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport (Sicily, Sardinia, Naples, Pisa, Rome, Venice and Verona) offering customers and independent travel agents fantastic choice, whether it’s an Italian city break or a beach holiday to enjoy a slice of the La Bella Vita.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We are continuing to see a great deal of demand for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport, so we are adding Sicily and Sardinia to our programme to give customers and independent travel agents even more choice. These two stunning Italian islands offer local holidaymakers everything from culture and history to sun and glamour, and we are going on sale with a fantastic choice of flights, resorts and hotels. This means we now have seven Italian destinations on sale for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport, and we know that these magical destinations, coupled with our award-winning flights and real package holidays, will be hugely popular with customers and independent travel agents alike.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: “It is great news that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have added Sicily and Sardinia to their extensive holiday destinations list direct from Birmingham Airport. These two beautiful Italian islands are currently unserved from Birmingham Airport so this is the ideal time to plan that Summer 2022 getaway, that we know is very desperately needed. Booking with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays gives customers the ease and convenience of booking flights, hotels and transfers in all one place but with the reassurance that their holiday is ATOL protected.”

Pula has been dropped and as it stands will not be available from any base in 2022. Murcia operates for 3 months this summer but then ends, again nothing from any base 2022. I also haven't included the specialist destinations such as VIE and KEF.

Routes served by Jet2 but not available from BHX include

Nice - Once available at 3x weekly then dropped to weekly before disappearing totally despite the press release praising growth.
Mytilene - Announced for 2020 but obviously didn't happen. Was initially put on sale for S21 but then dropped.
Mykonos - Can't ever remember BHX having a flight here?
Tivat - Since TUi dropped Podgorica we have no flights at all directly to Montenegro although holidays are available with a transfer from Dubrovnik.
Toulouse - Recently returned to the Jet2 network but only from MAN. Now only available from BHX Dec-Mar with TUi.

Zadar was also announced from STN/MAN but after disappearing last year it is yet to return.

I'll be disappointed if Nice and Mytilene don't return in the next couple of years and Mykonos is growing in popularity so should be one that BHX are chasing.

Plenty of room for growth over the next few years, even without taking in to account any 'new to Jet2' routes that may appear.

I forgot to add to the above that it was 30th March 2017 that saw the first Jet2 departure which makes what we have now even more remarkable.

I fancy both Nice and Mytilene will return before long. I will get grief if Mytilene doesn't return from my family.

Innsbruck goes year round again for S22.

Jet2.com puts Innsbruck on sale from Birmingham airport for summer 22

  • Flights now on sale to Innsbruck for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport
  • Start of services in Summer 22 means holidaymakers can explore Innsbruck and its surrounding areas in the summer for the first time
  • Latest expansion means a bumper choice of 55 sun and city destinations now on sale from Birmingham Airport
7th April 2021: Jet2.com has once again responded to strong and continued demand from UK holidaymakers by announcing it will operate summer flights to Innsbruck, with services on sale from Birmingham Airport for Summer 22.

Just months after revealing details of an exciting Summer 22 programme from Birmingham Airport, Jet2.com has today announced that it will operate flights to the Tyrolean capital for the first time in the summer. This move comes in response to demand for Summer 22 holidays, and the success of the company’s existing winter ski programme to the destination.

The leading leisure airline will operate to Innsbruck from Birmingham Airport from 28th May through to 24th September 2022, with weekly (Saturday) services available.

The start of services to Innsbruck for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport means holidaymakers can enjoy a range of sporting activities in the Alps such as hiking, mountain biking, cycling and golfing during the summer, as well as sightseeing around the 800-year old city of Innsbruck itself.

Innsbruck is the fifth largest city in Austria and is surrounded by stunning high mountains and dazzling lakes, making it attractive to the increasing number of holidaymakers who are enticed by wellness, adventure and sport. With miles of mountain ranges and alpine meadows on the doorstep, adventurers, hikers and cyclists are spoiled for choice, and that is not mentioning the unique mountain trams that offer up some of the most staggering views around.

Medieval Innsbruck itself offers a fantastic city break option, small enough to get around on foot, whilst fusing modern cosmopolitan with tradition and charm. Home to museums such as Audioversum and the Grassmayr Bell Foundry, cafes serving traditional fare such as schnitzel and strudel, and criss-crossed by charming cobbled streets lined with bars and restaurants, Innsbruck is fast becoming a popular summer holiday destination for British holidaymakers.

Today’s announcement means that Jet2.com will operate a busy programme for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport. In addition to announcing the start of operations to Innsbruck for the first time next summer, there are also a total of FIVE brand-new destinations are on sale for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport (including Sicily, Sardinia, La Rochelle, Paris and Athens), taking the total number of destinations on sale from the base for next summer to 55.

With a bumper choice of sun and city destinations on sale for Summer 22 from Birmingham Airport, holidaymakers in the Midlands are spoiled for choice when it comes to booking their Summer 22 getaways. Since announcing details of its Summer 22 programme in January, Jet2.com has seen strong demand from customers looking to get away for some much-needed sunshine and has been quick to respond to that demand by announcing additional flights to a wide range of popular destinations. A full breakdown of the Jet2.com Summer 22 programme from Birmingham Airport can be found at the bottom of this release.

Booking and travelling on flights with Jet2.com means customers get to enjoy the airline’s VIP customer service. This includes friendly flight times, as well as a generous 22kg baggage allowance and 10kg hand luggage allowance, which has the UK’s third largest airline win numerous awards and accolades such as TripAdvisor’s Best Airline – UK and Top 10 Airlines of the World.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We’re continuing to see confidence and strong demand from British holidaymakers looking to get away. As ever, we’ve listened to what customers are telling us and responded to that demand by announcing the start of services to Innsbruck from Birmingham Airport for Summer 22. Innsbruck is a fantastic city in the summer and acts as a gateway to the Alps, offering lots to see and do. Whether you are looking for adventure, scenery, wellness or simply enjoying the blend of modern and old in Innsbruck, the Austrian city offers it all. We expect the new programme to be hugely popular thanks to the appeal of the destination, coupled with our perfectly timed flights and award-winning customer service.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: “Jet2.com really is helping customers plan and look forward to future holidays. By adding Innsbruck for Summer 2022, this takes Jet2.com to 55 destinations available for travel direct from Birmingham Airport. Whether it is city breaks, beach holidays, flight only or full package holidays customers can book with confidence with ATOL protected Jet2.com.”

Personally I think Jet2 have made their decision prematurely. Ministers are now saying you can think about booking and it appears that travel will be possible from 17th May, of course there is the talk about tests but how about if the government do announce the cheaper rapid tests (the type which they are making available to everybody) will be sufficient for green countries. Everybody then would jump on their laptops and book and Jet2 would miss out.

I know they want to be seen as being decisive but at this moment in time I don't believe they have acted on any concrete evidence, solely on the drips and drabs of information in the media and have ruined the plans of many of their customers.

I have a booking with Vueling in May and if it turns out it gets cancelled due to the actual requirements then that is fine but I would be quite annoyed if they was to do so right now when the government have clarified they are looking at the tests and most countries have said they are ready to welcome us Brits and our wallets with open arms.

@Wrightfly73 I'm with you on this. It seems very knee jerk, start of June would of been good, but yeah very very knee jerk.

Mind you there is a serious lack of any detail in this report. In fact it's just rehashing the same information we had 6 months ago. They have no desire to re start travel, they don't want to tbh. The "task force" was a smoke screen. The whole fact you can go to a green country but have to have a test is ridiculous. A farce. This government is clueless.

It does seem to be a hasty decision. On Monday we should get a clearer picture from Government about travel abroad. Perhaps Jet2 are being cautious because of the upsurge in Covid in Mainland Europe and a reported reluctance to book holidays this year.

I’ve just had my May trip to Chania cancelled - i have no problem with that, I would much rather know in advance 1 way or other
I will be booking again with Jet2 as I feel confident that they will look after me.

The 28th June is the first review date. Even if the government is able to reduce the cost of tests required to travel, it is likely the only European country that will make it onto the green list is Portugal - hardly worth restarting the company to serve just one country.

From the 28th June, the government has said they may be able to reduce the restrictions for Amber countries, which at the moment include 10 days home quarantine.

Consider Jet2 is currently 100% grounded. It's a colossal effort to get an airline from that state to one of flying again. Last year Jet2 had a policy of not flying to any country that required self isolation on return. From the 17th May - which the government still has yet to confirm whether international travel will even be allowed from - the list of countries that Jet2 serves on the green list is just too small to warrant resuming flights.

Jet2 are well known for playing things safe, and IMHO its not a knee jerk reaction, but rather representative of the dire situation the industry faces.

It's not looking good is it Sherburnflyer, I am slowly losing hope that Summer 2021 will go ahead.

#fedup :(

I agree, I also think it gives them a little bit of breathing room to avoid a repeat of last year.
Let's imagine intl travel begins on the 17th May, like last year infections in those countries may naturally increase - therefore the green/amber/red list can change.

It feels like they are giving a month or so for things to 'settle' or get a clearer idea as you mention with the 28th June review date.

It sounds like prudent, customer-first business. Although of course it isn't great for other parts of the industry.

The list should only go one way as vaccinations increase. That way is more greens added and that’s it.
