Malaga is now 2x weekly April, May and first half of June on Tues & Sat
then 2x weekly Tues, Thu & Sat from Mid June - August.
It goes back to 4x weekly in Sept.

Palma drops to 2x weekly until Sept when it goes to 3x weekly.

I suspect Sept onward is subject to change.

Such a shame to see VY retracting at a time when holiday bookings are apparently booming! And of course the confidence VY has put in CWL all these years.

Although the competition from both FR and W9 is healthy, it’s obviously proving hard in the number of rotations being cut.

Airlines and tour operators are announcing a surge in bookings since the restrictions and PCR requirements have been lifted. Wales recently lifted the advice against travel. Vueling may be missing an opportunity here and cut flights too early.

It is disappointing that they're cutting back especially after the positive news of Paris.

Vueling stats for December 2021.
Paris Orly 273 average of 19 passengers a flight
Alicante 999 average of 83 passengers a flight
Malaga 437 average 54 passengers a flight
Total of 1709 passengers used Vueling, between 3 routes there were 17 departures during the month averaging 50 passengers a flight.

Good advert for Vueling on Heart Radio earlier on today. Firstly mentioning Paris and low prices and being good for a trip to Disneyland and then mentioning the other routes on offer from Cardiff.

I had joyful trip this week courtesy of VY for the first time in 2 years!

I travelled to ALC on Tue 15 Feb and returned to CWL on Sat 19 Feb.

The flight on the way out was quite busy, probably around 90%+ full with a few empty seats toward the front. As for the return, I was reliably informed there was 97 on board - which personally for me was a nice load to allow people to spread out - and 160+ on the return to ALC.

As always it's good to see this route continuing for all the years it has and of course standing at 6 weekly this coming summer!

VY are an asset to CWL and they need to be protected from the approach of the ULCC practices of W9 at all costs*

What I will also add is the yield must be decent for this route as prior to travel I regularly checked the seat map and it seemed many people had chosen a fare that included a seat reservation, or had chosen to pay for one. Additionally there seemed to be a lot of in-flight food and drink sales from the catering available, which is always good to see on a low-cost flight.

Well done VY - long may your partnership with CWL and the travelling Welsh public continue!

(*I have a flight booked with W9 myself in September to ACE, so am not anti-Wizz by any means!)

It's interesting that despite Wizz operating 2 weekly flights on Alicante in the summer Vueling haven't cut back and the route is still 6 weekly for the summer unlike with Malaga and Mallorca where they have dropped flights. Vueling does now have competition on 3 out of 4 of their routes but don't seem to have been scared away from Cardiff by Ryanair and Wizz.

If I'm not wrong, VY have cut a lot of their AGP and PMI rotations - with PMI being 2 x weekly during the peak summer and AGP x 3

This is certainly a reduction on what S19 offered (pre-pandemic of course)...

But yes, CWL has always been the jewel in VY's crown from ALC!

Now that W9 have released their W22/23 schedule, and of course FR aren’t interested in CWL in the winter - given that VY seem to have scaled back somewhat this summer vs pre-pandemic years, do we think they will offer anything at all during W22/23?

Their normal voyages are 2 weekly ALC and 2 weekly AGP - of course ALC going up against W9 on Tue & Sat.

Be interesting to see how VY are judging the direct W9 competition this summer…

I would hope that they would continue with their winter programme. CWL needs both them and Wizz to grow in the future.

A nice little post on the VY Instagram page about celebrating 10 years at CWL!

Not a single whisper on the official CWL pages though…but then we’ve come to expect this.

Hoping for many more years of VY success at CWL!

Anyone know why there's a Vueling inbound from Barcelona?
