I think my wife would draw the line at an hotel next to the airport but would definitely be OK with a day on the beach at the airport.

The thing that really hacked me off is we had a second trip booked and my wife and me had agreed that I would get my day there while she went elsewhere. Then hurricane Irma struck and the cruise itinerary was changed.with Sint Martin cancelled as a port of call

Some things seem just meant not to be.

I was on this flight with various family members. The cockpit announcement was that due to an unfavourable wind direction only two runways were available at Schiphol, one for take off, the other for landing, and hence the delay. Elsewhere the problem was attributed to runway maintenance. The consequence for us was missed connection to SXM, a day finding things to do in Amsterdam (not hard), returning to Schiphol and horrific security queues then evening flight to Paris then flight tomorrow fro CDG to SXM, arriving 25 hours late, hopefully not longer. This is by no means the first missed connection I’ve had at AMS and more weather related problems there than at LBA.. I think in future I will be much more wary of short connections, especially on a route which only operates three times weekly.
Explanation of recent delays at AMS.

Does anyone know what happened to todays LHR flights?

They seem to be in total disarray.

Getting very worried about my forthcoming flight.

More problems for TUI - The 737/800 G-TAWI which arrived from Corfu this afternoon is currently languishing on Stand 19 having gone u/s when taxiing out for departure earlier this afternoon. So it reamins to be seen if a replacement aircraft arrives to do the flight or it results in yet another cancelled flight for the comapny.

Just had a quick scan on flight radar. 15 arrivals due between midnight and 4am due to various delays etc. Hope the nimby crew have their windows shut, they will think we have our new flying hours 🤪
And like last night landing runway 14 this eve too so the majority flying over baildon moor where i am! The jet engines send me off to sleep!

The aircraft is just positioning out as TOM913P to Manchester. Does anyone know if/how the LBA-CFU passengers reached their destination?
