Air Canada + Rouge + Air Transat = ? for Manchester

CP Air, Wardair, Quebecair, Canadian. Can't think of any others, but the Canadian market seems to change drastically every few years like Dr Who!

Nationair, Royal Air, Canada 3000, Odyssey, Ontario Worldair. Thomas Cook were in that market for a while too.

Air Canada's commitment to MAN hasn't been great historically, so this combination would be a concern. Maybe MAG should be redoubling efforts to attract WestJet to MAN.

I'm surprised Westjet isn't already operating from MAN!

Westjet are still relatively new to the TATL market. With 50 aircraft on order that could fly TATL (737MAX and 787-9) I suspect its only a matter of time before they're seen at Manchester, especially if this Air Canada/Air Transat development means the loss of the latter.

Who has ever said we could lose them, I really don`t see that happening especially as nobody else
operates plus there are no flights from Midlands and just a few from Scotland

It depends if they are merged with Air Canada or not. If they are then it just becomes an Air Canada flight.

Sorry I didn`t word that very well I meant we won`t lose all our Canadian flights and infact perhaps an Air Canda all
year

There is a real risk that MAN would end up with just a seasonal daily B763 ... Air Canada like deploying their oldest equipment here (a bit like American). And then charging eyewatering fares ... far higher than those of Air Transat ... as they do now. I'm concerned that the market will take a real hit unless Air Canada rethink their attitude towards Manchester. They don't come across as a 'double-daily' sort of airline. Not at MAN anyway.

I used air Transat a couple of years ago, out to Toronto in economy and back from Vancouver in premium, they were excellent value for money.

Alas I can’t see the same happening if they become Rouge routes

Airlineroute today posted:

Toronto – Manchester eff 04FEB21 2 weekly A321neo (Service cancelled Nov – Jan)

Air Transat are planning a capacity increase during Winter 2022/23. They will fly 2 weekly on Manchester-Toronto but one flight is on the A330-200 and the other is an A321neo. Originally it was planned to be all A321neos. It’s the same with Glasgow-Toronto route
