@Ray Finkle Add Jet2 to PMI, TFS and AGP.

Looking at Jet2 and BHX; Jet2 now serve 41 destinations from BHX.

Missing from the Network are -

AMS - LBA exclusive.
CDG - LBA exclusive.
JER - LBA exclusive.

BCN - Competition.
LRH - Not really obvious why it is missing.
ZAD - New for S20, served STN/MAN. Wouldn't be surprised to see in S21.

New routes will come from the company expanding generally. ZAD maybe added, alongside LRH, but BCN won't be added whilst Ryanair and Vueling are competing against each other.

I think LRH and ZAD must be the favourites for 2021, if ZAD works this year that is.

There are slots available for BHX-AMS and BHX-CDG. Word is that one particular airline jumped in straight away but how many of those slots they were after I don't know. If there are a some left over Jet2 may fancy a couple of weekly city break flights.

Hmm, now which airlines have aircraft based at AMS and CDG? At least one has a history of flying BHX-Paris and for whatever reason it was dropped it certainly wasn’t load factors.

I don't think either will make an appearance. CDG has been tried twice from EMA (up the road) and twice it has been withdrawn before the season has begun, only operating for a short 4/5 week period, in turn been replaced with one would presume a beach destination where yield, revenue and thus profit are much better.

ZAD must be on that list; LRH i'm unsure. Surely on Jet2's radar must be more year round destinations - PXO and SPC?

easyJet Europe - Large bases at both airports
LEVEL - Shorthaul base in AMS / Longhaul base in CDG
Vueling - One aircraft overnights in AMS operating BCN and LTN / Three aircraft based in CDG operating mainly to Spain, plus LGW and FCO
Transavia/ Transavia France - bases at both

Easy and Transavia have no history of BHX-Paris
IAG are already transferring routes from Vueling(who have a history though short} to them so it must be Level.
Probably not big enough yet to utilise all the slots even if they wanted to hence the suggestion from Ray that Jet2 might like to
dip their toe into the city break market.

I really don't think you can extrapolate failures at EMA to BHX. They have very different markets.
Looking at CAA figures (May 2019 being the latest), for links to major European cities/hubs, we get the following -

BHX - CDG 34383 +5%

EMA - CDG 0

BHX - FRA 21791 +8%

EMA - FRA 0

BHX - MUC 17449 +7%

EMA - MUC 0

BHX - AMS 58195 +1%

EMA - AMS 4058 +1%

BHX - MAD 11653 +10%

EMA - MAD 0

I can see an IAG airline being very interested in both AMS and CDG from BHX, to feed into Oneworld Alliance long haul services as well as point to point.

Vueling did fly BHX to Paris Orly for a short season, but cant really see them making a return on the CDG or AMS route, and would be surprised if it was Level, but as already mentioned, maybe IAG want to start and compete with the AF/KL/DL/VS alliance? Guess if they did, the flights would be bookable on the BA portal as well.

My money is on Easyjet jumping in with the CDG & AMS routes, i did tweet them earlier in the month asking them to pass on these flight suggestions to their route development team & they replied "I will pass on these great suggestions to my team Matt"!! :ROFLMAO:

But I had heard a couple of years ago (i think Ian F can also confirm this?) , Easy were looking at BHX as a base, but part of the agreement was they wanted to fly to AMS & CDG daily, and BHX refused as they didnt want them competing with BE/AF/KL!!! maybe its come full circle now and Easy have the chance to pick up these slots!! how bizarre would that be?

Interesting!
They are both strong routes and I think they would benefit from competition.

3 flights to Palma within 2 hours 20 mins. Looking at FR24, they are listed as '73H'. Seat Guru shows a seat map of 195 seats. Therefore, a total of 585 seats. I do wonder if 2 larger aircraft would be more efficient regarding landing/ATC/fuel and crewing costs? It wouldn't be a bad load on an A380 (although Jet2 don't offer business class).

189 seats. Maximum of any 737-800.

PMI is a british favourite and it is summer holidays. Clearly the market can sustain 4 daily flights in what is now peak summer.

Maybe they might W pattern a A330 in the future??

I have recently booked a ski holiday with neilsons who are using jet2 to andorra next winter. I have booked ski carraige via neilsons, neilsons shows no restrictions but when I check jet2 it shows a max length of 180cm for skis/skibag. My skis are 177cm but bag is over 180cm so now I either buy a new bag or dont take skis. I called jet2 and they confirm that 180cm restriction because of the space in the aircraft hold(hmmmmmm) I then contacted neilsons about the restriction who didnt know and seemed suprised (Quote:I have checked on the Jet2 Website as if checking for a flight and it says 22kgs. I haven’t found anywhere that gives lengths of bag. Are you able to let me know where you have seen this please ?) and I am waiting for a final reply. Fybe E175/195 is 250cm and Q400 167cm and TUI only have a weight restriction
So if you are a taller person who needs skis over 180cm or have skis longer than 180cm you will be in for a major problem and at check in if you are unaware you will have to leave your skis behind.
