Or maybe BA?On local tv, the pso newquay to london route will go out to tender next week, the council have been trying to find a operater. So now its up for any airline to bid of, if they can find one or any body will take a big risk, my guess blue islands or eastern, bring back air southwest i say..
And quite possibly in some cases don't charge them!It looks like they are to store aircraft at airports that are bases. These airports have the staff to do maintainance.
Im surprised no one has picked up NQY-LPLNewquay is now the most widely connected airport on UK routes in the entire South West region.
Newquay
Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, Teesside, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Isle of Scilly (9 routes)
Exeter
Belfast City, Manchester, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Isles of Scilly (7 routes)
Bristol
Belfast International, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Newcastle (6 routes)
Bournemouth *
No UK routes
Some of the above routes although announced have yet to begin.
* Although situated on the South Coast Bournemouth is part of the South West region for government purposes
The message coming out from the council seems to be that they want a financial grant from the government which it is not currently prepared to make but will make a loan. However, the council doesn't want to go down that road.Struggling Cornwall Airport Newquay is 'not currently viable'
The government is being asked for financial supportwww.cornwalllive.com
Well i hope they come up with something as at the moment the UK government does seem quite happy to let the aviation industry and travel industry rot.Perhaps the enquiry being carried out for the government on improving transport links across the UK might come up with something that would help NQY and other airports in a similar predicament.
