And the reason Manchester is where it is and Leeds is where it is...look at MAN..trains from our side of the hill that actually take you into the airport...fantastic motorway system built to go past the airport (yes it can be busy) hotels built next to it...we have a poxy Travelodge and the worst roads to get there people have ever experienced...mind you Bristol Was no better 10 years ago so no idea how it is there these days..

The South Bristol link road was completed and opened in 2017. It helps feed traffic onto the A38 from the surrounding perimeter of the city.

To my knowledge Leeds is now by far the worst connected regional airport in the UK.

A day in the life of Leeds University hypocrisy

The doctorate rebellion and curbing "airport expansion"

Leeds Universities where the latest round of anti airport doctorates come from have spent the last couple of decades expanding their campuses and encouraging large numbers of foreign students from around the world to flock to Leeds to study, use our transport networks, our airport, our city's facilities and services.

Leeds University "part of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), compromising of 23 research-intensive institutions spanning six continents"

In their elaborate quest to invite as many overseas students as possible to further fund the expansion of Leeds Universities and their quango studies into climate change, they will have indirectly and directly contributed substantially more to "global warming" . More than the average person on the street who would just like to go on a once a year family holiday to the Costas flying from their local airport.

So many of these university students invited here from six continents have travelled to Leeds by air contributing further to the 2% of global co2 emissions relating to aviation. Despite aviation related co2 being low in comparison with other sources, those students then go on to consume considerably more co2 during their stay here in Leeds.

On their arrival, most will use public transport or taxis to get from Leeds Bradford airport or Manchester airport to their respective university campuses. In turn they are unwittingly making a further and larger contribution to the 17% of global transport related co2 according to the IPCC.

On arrival to the city centre of Leeds the students make their way to one of the recently constructed high rise apartments which contributed further to the 10% of global co2 related to buildings , notedly Iron and Steel contribute 5% of co2 emissions towards global co2.

The students then reach their apartment generally using a lift, and as they enter their accommodation, they turn the heating and lighting on further contributing to the 43% global co2 relating to the production of electricity.

The next morning they head off to their respective universities where they study "climate change" and "co2 reduction".

Basically doctorates in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Blanket bans on aviation or any other industry will only hurt our economy further.

Lets be sensible and lets have a decent carbon neutral airport terminal. We'll work together with the aviation industry and other industries to reduce co2 emissions across the board. You can then carry on expanding your university.

Getting sick and tired of living in a second class city.
Manchester is THE Northern Powerhouse and Leeds in nowhere close, sad to say.
We've always had councillors with no vision whatsoever (unless you forever want to dine on being the first city outside London to have a Harvey Nichols!!!)
Really starting to think that this is an episode of Bullseye and we're looking at what we could have had - I hope I'm wrong!

Please write to the leader of the council. Believe me i am. It's embarrassing.

Yorkshire Evening Post Article regarding LBA Support Group is now published online

Brilliant, well done to all that got that on the YEP.

To note I’ve not seen that inside picture before... it looks so good!

And now the West Leeds Dispatch has published our open letter and added the Airports own FACT SHEET to it.

Did you send it to the Wharfedale Observer? They are usually not kind to LBA. If we could get them to publish too that would be something.

ive posted a second support comment with more added points. i don't think this is necessary a bad thing, maybe be worth others doing aswell?

Searching through the portal I've seen plenty of names more than once which brings me onto a letter that was sent to the YEP (I think) It said the planning system wasn't democratic. I mean, seriously, this isn't a democratic process and nor should it be.

What they mean by democracy is he who shouts loudest wins, whether it's the right thing or not. ER have the funding to force their opinions on to everyone and are, going forward, likely to out vote the supporters for just about every aviation related application going. It's up to planners to reach the right decision. If planning applications were all determined according to support v opposition I can guarantee that nothing would ever happen.
