2x Jet2 Boeing 737-300"s G-GDFG & G-GDFL are set to be withdrawn from service by end of this year.

Taking the Boeing 737-300 fleet down to 5 aircraft for next summer 2024 all based at LBA. G-GDFK, G-GDFM G-GDFN, G-GDFO & G-GDFT.
According to LBA management one of them will be replaced for this summer by an 800. I wouldn't know personally, but that's what was reported to the Consultative Committee.

Saying 2 by the end of the year is a very vague statement so rather than it being 2 say on 31Dec23 it could be for example 1 by 31Mar23 and 1 by 31Dec23 which would then fit in with what WH was told at the CC meeting. Still means 2 are withdrawn by the end of 2023 which then remains factually correct

The plan is for them all to operate throughout summer.

So you keep saying, yet Jet2 have told LBA one will be replaced by an 800 for the summer. I'm not saying you're wrong. But if you're correct then Jet2 have either misinformed LBA management or there's a misunderstanding. I guess we will find out soon.

Certainly will. It's very odd for any airline to retire an aircraft mid summer - especially when there is no sign of the A321NEO's anytime yet.

It could well be the information they received was correct at the time but has changed since. After all no one was expecting 2 Ryanair Max's but here we are....

Maybe LBA got that wrong too!

I think they may have done. Just looked on Ryanair for flights on Monday 26th June operated by our 3 based aircraft. As of 10 minutes ago, according to the seat maps, it’s 1 Max and 2 800’s

Of course this is Ryanair so by tomorrow that could all change. Sorry… I know this is the J2 thread.

Just been looking if Jet2 could be withdrawing a Boeing 737-300 shortly as suggested by @White Heather a few weeks back after her meeting up at LBA.

I have noticed in recent days the schedule flight timings have been altered around a bit on several routes come the peak summer meaning 9x Boeing 737-800's are required in service along with just only 5x Boeing 737-300's.

Someone recently suggested elsewhere that G-GDFO wasn't long for this world. Whether that was specific knowledge or just a comment about the 300s generally wasn't clear .....

As a matter of interest her Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) expires on 29-Sep-2023 after which time an application would have to be made for renewal showing that all requirements, including maintenance, have been and are still being met.

For the recod the first Jet2 A.321Neo G-SUNB(Channex 045D) was flown Hamburg - East Midlands yesterday morning for application of the Jet2 holiday titles.
Presumably when ready there will be a fanfare of publicity, wonder if she will fly into LBA for this, being the Jet2 HQ?

After EMA It’s due into the MAN hangar for seat instillation and other final readiness bits.

After that I’m hoping it will head to LBA for the fanfare although this realistically could also be done at MAN.

Jennyjet, An upgrade to my law degree, have now been upgraded to a Masters in Laws from Birmingham University to add to my Doctor of Jurisprudence as awarded by Harvard Law School. I am somewhat humbled, imposter syndrome in play here!
9 trips in 9 days done 70 miles walked and over 23-00 photos taken with a large number taken at 20mph or above. Heavy rain on 1 day only
5 trips done and 45 miles walked,. Also the RAF has had 4 F35B Lightning follow me yesterday and today....
My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
