    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

No they'll go by ship, its possible parts could be flown in via the route. I suppose depends on the contract but looking at Bournemouth. Chengdu, Urumqi and Haikou seem to be the main destinations but they also fly into Vienna and Paris from them as well. There must be a regular contract...

Hopefully we'll see them return next year.

    Ryanair

Yep they've stated that German aviation taxes are too high.

    Ryanair

Ryanair have launched Bodrum and Dalaman from Stansted. I'd expect more UK airports will get flights to Turkey and would be very surprised if Bristol wasn't one.

I'm sure she would say it's good news and then criticise the Welsh government someway!

Yes it is. Also helps with the case for more investment.

Ryanair reducing in Germany. Closure of bases and reductions in based aircraft and flights at others.

    TUi Airways

Well that's a good thing in itself. All TUI fleet is a boost of sorts. I think Naples isn't a cruise starting point anymore. Verona for Lakes and Mountains would be a good addition and maybe more likely considering they added Chambery for the winter.

    TUi Airways

Fingers crossed we'll see something extra from them. Probably being way to hopeful but I hope that includes a 4th based aircraft and Cancun.

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

I suppose she'd reply by saying that's her job. Fingers crossed TUI will add more and we'll see some positive news but I suspect that won't satisfy the critics. I think that is one of the challenges with an airport like this. People don't see it as an economic investment or an infrastructure...

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

Question in the Senedd by Natasha Ashgar about the SAU report. I always find the replies in these interesting, especially the ones that seem to somehow think that if the Welsh government closed the airport other stuff just like the BAMC would just carry on and that the Welsh government would...

    Play

One of the challenges with an airline like Play and Wow is not just being relatively unknown but also a big chunk of their operation is onward connections to the USA but they only have a small amount of USA destinations and going via Iceland will only be attractive to a certain limited market...

I suspect they were hoping connections to the USA would be good. And I think Play shows the challenges that the airport faces. Niche routes like Iceland don't work from Cardiff unfortunately.

I was afraid that would happen. The seat maps weren't good. It'll no doubt damage the airport pr wise because they've made a big deal out of it.

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

Well i suppose that depends on an individual persons view. The money is spread over a decade so it is £20 million a year which in government terms isn't a massive amount. I guess it will only be seen as a good use if it leads to more routes, more jobs and more investment in the area.

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

It just seems to say a lot that more detail is required. I can't see the Welsh government not going ahead with the subsidy. It seems that the airport needs a cash injection for the future and is struggling to get airlines to commit. I suppose from BRS and BHX position even one less passenger not...

Just to point out the report is non binding so the Welsh government could go ahead with its plans. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but Wales Online have already put out an article...
