It will be a two aircraft base for Winter 25/26 now, which is excellent news !
TUI have built a great brand and offering from CWL in recent years, and continue to build. One positive from Jet2 staying away is that it gives TUI the freedom of operating without waging a war on prices for...
British Airways have just announced a multi-million pound investment in BAMC, adding an additional maintenance bay which will accomodate A350’s.
A little bit of good news ...
Since they’ve gone public on the £206m public funding, I would guess whoever may be interested (FR, W6 etc) in theory, would quite rightly be twiddling their thumbs for that to be available … It makes no sense at present to invest, when WG have gone public on providing certain support !
I know...
Completely agree with this - I was referring to geographically rather than actually practically (and perhaps realistically) - Wales is the gaping hole on their map !
Semi-interesting release today from Jet2 regarding their new LTN operation. Seems like some sort of opportunistic late move on slots from reading between the lines …
Not so long ago, they said themselves that 12 bases was the perfect number for them, so comes as a bit of a surprise getting a...
With the current 2026 forecast remaining as 1.6 mppa, what do we collectively think the plan is to get to that value?
No doubt the WG funding package will assist seemingly, but the current forecast is still that which is effectively double the current value.
I think they’ve updated the Press Release, it now states the additional paved areas will be on the inside turns at either end of the runway (on the taxiways) - Presumably additional/more beneficial turning radii for accessing/exiting the runway.
Agreed - WG will stump up the cash for it, that’s almost a dead cert.
Whether or not it’s the best use of £206m of public funds at the moment is a completely different question.
I’m well accustomed to reading this sort of document on a daily basis, and all it suggests is re-consideration of a few points and further detail on the proposals.
The fact that BHX or BRS are playing the market distortion card is quite disappointing overall when they serve a far...
There’s been very little noise with this really since the launch. Personally, it would have been great to promote but then with a limited budget the short season offered here was probably down the pecking order for the Marketing budget.
Either way, be great to see this route being a short term...
Hopefully some more extras to come … Either that or FR are waiting for the WG package to come through !
EXT has picked up a 4th weekly flight to ALC, ahead of the others …So reading between the lines, EXT is higher up the pecking order than CWL and others (Although there’s no competition at...
I’m not saying that’s their stance on running an airport, but for them it must surely be a difficult investment piece (to invest in attracting airlines etc) which ultimately increases carbon emissions. A balancing act between maintaining WG policy and running a commercial airport.
I think we’re all missing something here with the way in which the WG are dealing with the climate/carbon situation in Wales (and the focus on this particularly within Transport). The National Transport Strategy effectively prohibits many forms of new road construction which would increase...
On that basis, how on earth are the fares so high (and have been pretty much since Week 1, after they started in the “Reasonable” ballpark).
Something’s not quite right with the operating model here …
