I feel very let down by our flag carrier ....no airline connection to the Capital from the whole of Yorkshire...what message does that send out? Where else has been pulled airport wise by BA? I'm not upset now...just angry.

I've travelled a lot to the US with BA from LBA so I'm really gutted. KLM were always over priced for me and I didnt want to fly east first to then go west and Aer Lingus arent that cheap either ( and no complimentary bar ). I really am sad about this.

Just read Simon Calder's piece in the Independent. He appears to have broken the story. He states that 'the route has always struggled commercially' and infers that he isnt surprised. It's really upsetting...we go 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

I cant believe this...I'm in shock. That our flag carrier has pulled out of LBA is devastating....it sends the wrong message to the region and business connectivity.

That's brilliant about FR...cheered me up. Are we ok for summer 2021 too?

    Infrastructure, Construction & Developments

I worked in Edinburgh for 4 years and used the M9 regularly...geographical distances in Scotland are large but at least the M9 makes it easier for the catchment to get to the airport ..imagine the equivalent length of motorway (about 54 miles), 5 mins from LBA skirting via the airport from say...

    Infrastructure, Construction & Developments

Edinburgh's a good example of how a supportive local council has improved connectivity to the airport...trams every 7 mins, the airport is 5 mins from the motorway network, the M9, so it is easy to get to from other parts of Scotland. A world away from Leeds City Council......

We need a decent airport to sustain our regional economy. Given Covid I'd be astonished if private sector investment is refused. It just can't happen.

    Random Stuff!

I've stopped watching the news. It's just too depressing. Until the R rate goes down we will be stuck like this.

    Ryanair

Normally the likes of MAN do sweetheart deals to include airports in their group to maximise their negotiating muscle so I'm not sure if this has been done with the triage of AMP owned airports.

    Ryanair

I'm struggling to understand this...and dismayed.

In terms of directors and FR news ....has another director at LBA quietly disappeared ...the ops director, Simon whitby, has he been replaced last month?

    Ryanair

I'm not sure what the reasons are but I'm really sad. I flew with them during the first week that FR started at LBA and thought they were a great addition to our offering. Every flight I've been on has been packed but my understanding is it's not just about having a full plane. It's also about...

    Ryanair

That's the flight to Dublin that I tested ..nothing comes up for 2021, yet if you want to fly to Dublin from, say, MAN it does. Hopefully. It may be a later addition if they have the planes/capacity. The cynical part of me thinks covid is an additional excuse for FR. You may remember in previous...

    Ryanair

This is incredibly sad , if true. I've just looked for next year and you cant book for LBA but you can for, say, MAN. I just hope that it's an error. We need airline competition to keep pricing competitive at LBA.

    Ryanair

I dontbthinl FR ( or jet 2) will go....maybe FR have reduced capacity thou. Interestingly, Willie Walsh saying it will be 2023 before the aviation industry gets back to anything like normal. So I think we may have to hold our nerve for 3 or so years.

    Ryanair

Roll on the new terminal. We all want FR (and all airlines) to continue at LBA.

Agree Aviador as local councils in France are issuing everyone with face masks and making it compulsory to wear.

    Random Stuff!

I hope covid understands these politics and stops at the French /UK border, despite said politicians always quoting basing their decisions on 'scientific evidence'. Similar to us being told last night that household members are only allowed to play golf in a 2 ball..that evolved to being able...

    Random Stuff!

Because Macron called Johnson last night and asked for France to be exempt. If it wasnt so shambolic and serious then it would be laughable.
