I would like think the I A G group would be able to use one of its group companies to fly certainly to Madrid to what is now the South American hub airport for the group.
My worry is that the new Vueling service to Barcelona is plugging this as a route to Madrid, Seville etc with the ease of luggage transfer etc.
We normally do Seville via malaga with the train down to Seville, however, via Barcelona the costs are considerably less and the overall time will be shorter.
We used to in winter do Stansted to Seville direct, those who complain about winter in LBA should try flying out of Stansted in winter, our last two flights before we discontinued this route invovled being stuck in stansted for 36 hours due to snow and the second time a full day due to fog and Ryanair just cancelling the flight. Our worst delay at LBA was for 5 hours a few years back due to snow in March, we were stuck in the aircraft for this time.

Just booked my parents Meet and Greet at the airport for their trip to ALC with ZB in March and when confirming the details the airport asks what airline you are flying with, in a drop down menu, interesting was that Eurowings Airlines was listed in the list, the only airline in the list that doesn't currently fly from LBA. Not sure if the airport was expecting a Eurowings announcement then last minute got pulled?

Or should we be positive and say the announcement is expected imminently??

I've asked Eurowings directly on Twitter but as expected they were noncommittal.

At CWL Eurowings will be doing the a weekly TOM PMI so the same could be possible for LBA?

Posting this on here as it seems a sensible neutral thread. Stobart Air are apparently on the acquisition trail again. To coin a phrase from elsewhere, mayBE a space to watch or a spacE AS TERNimals if I wasn't dyslexic. Hope you saw what I did there!

There was a piece in Irish Times saying that Stobart Air hadn't ruled out buying Flybe. They have the money so who knows.

Maybe Jet2 should buy Eastern and use them as a feeder airline to smaller airports such as Southampton, Cardiff and Aberdeen. Connections could be provided at various bases such as MAN, LBA, EDI and NCL. Right, tin hat on and back to bed!!

Your probably not joking but how many bucket and spade flights do you see that have feeder flights?

None...so maybe they could start a trailblazing feeder/hub service at their main bases. Aberdeen and Southampton are good examples of possible connections, especially to the less 'routine' routes such as Split, Pula, Dubrovnik etc. Utilising existing Eastern routes such as ABZ-LBA and NWI-EDI could generate new Jet2 customers that otherwise would not have local access to Jet2.

An interesting concept Bigman. In fact, thinking back, didn't Manx2 offer something sililar at one point?

Aviador I'll totally agree with you that Bigman won't be dreaming as well. He comes out with some really great ideas sometimes, it's just in reality you know Jet2 are never going to buy Eastern Airways and use them as a feeder airline.
Jet2 has become a beast now in its own right, Its proven it can live on its own and play the ge up against its rivals eg: Thomas Cook, Monarch & Thomson Holidays
You can't really put Jet2 in the same league as eg: Easyjet, Ryanair and Norwegian as their in a different league.

Stobart Group buying Eastern Airway or going into partnership with its owners Bristow Group might actually make a lot of sense what with them both been Flybe Franchise operators.
If there is any truth that Eastern are to get ATR's then this would also make a good fit!

Birmingham to get primera Air routes to New York and Boston next summer using A321neoLR`s. I wonder if LBA will ever get a look in? Perfect aircraft for LBA!

I doubt it, A321 will probably be very performance limited from Leeds for ETOPS. I think the MAX family will be more suited to the job.

Anyone else heard rumour going about the Leeds - Glasgow route been restarted with it possibly been linked to a 2nd new unnamed destination?

The Aircraft operating flights will call into LBA whilst its enroute to drop off and pick up more passengers. I suppose it makes sense!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 2nd time
If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
