Indeed - lived in BiW for several years beneath the approach for 14 and climb out 32 and whilst I suppose any noise I heard was mitigated by the fact that I'm an aviation enthusiast it really wasn't that intrusive at all. The 'stopping conversations' comment is complete and utter rubbish to the point of untruth! There is an horrendous amount of house/flat building going on between BiW and Ilkley and soon it will be very difficult indeed to find a route that doesn't impact someone.
Yes, it's a huge posh development and I was stuck in traffic there today where the road is up to lay sewers. The biggest impact though if an early right turn after departure would be the western end of Otley on both sides of the river and the villages to the North of the river between Otley and Ilkley. Not a huge population unless you include sheep, but they'll still make a noise if they get overflying where previously there was none. An early left turn off 32 would be of no use as it would bring flights over Guiseley and the High Royds community. Far more population there (but less sheep).

Reading that petition, the route that they are keen on (right turn-out North and then East of Otley) is designed to replace the current left turn-out LAMIX and DOPEK SIDs. There would still be a need to depart aircraft to the West via a NELSA replacement SID.

Not bad news for the residents of BIW and Menston, certainly, a right turn-out LAMIX/DOPEK would reduce the number of flights over their houses by about a third, but there would still be about two thirds going West.

From an ATC point of view, the right turn-out LAMIX/DOPEK would be a hugely positive development, deconflicting these departures from RWY32 arrivals, which they currently cross over with.

Mentioned before
K L M flight departing 14 turned left and flew around Leeds city centre.
Only every seen this airline do this.
Anyone know why?

Explains the complete lack of buses for passengers to disembark and no capacity for assistance passengers
At peak arrival times the rate at which de-planing takes place is dictated by Border Force. There should be enough buses.

There are definitely occasions when the buses are all preoccupied. From what I could see they've been doing a pretty good job in peak times this weekend, more so than some winter days. Obviously better staffed

Again mentioned here before about departures back in March April time. Ryanair to Bucharest this morning departed 14 and turned left after flying over horsforth then around leeds back on track. No weather or conflicting traffic on F R. I could still see it as it approached Doncaster.
Look on flight radar 630 departure this morning.
There must be some amendments to the departure SIDS certainly a waste of fuel!!!!!!

The SIDs have definitely not been changed. For whatever reason, Scottish Control or Leeds Radar have deviated the aircraft from the SID. It could one of many factors, including something initiated by the pilots.

Thanks for the info.
Strange that several flights including KLM have taken this route. Maybe not to wake the people living in Leeds City Centre :ROFLMAO:

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 2nd time
