Paris expected to be their first European destination

don't hold your breath about seeing them at Birmingham yet, plan was to operate to Paris, London and Manchester first.

current fleet status:-

Boeing 777-200

In service:- AP-BGK, AP-BHX, AP-BMH, AP-BGZ (4)
In active:- AP-BGJ, AP-BGL, AP-BMG, AP-BGY (4)

Boeing 777-300

In service:- AP-BHV (1)
In active:- AP-BHW, AP-BID, AP-BMS (3)

will take them ages to get the aircraft back in service, if they can afford the parts!! :ROFLMAO:
It will be a long time before they are back, if ever, which is a shame if AP-BHX is back in service.

Turkmenistan traffic from BHX was almost entirely based on onwards connection by them to Amritsar at very competitive prices. Demand fron Birmingham to Turkmenistan as a destination practically non existent as pointed out by gulf traveller..

Presently, no Pakistani airline is permitted operate commercial flights to/from UK.
The UK authorities are expected to lift ban by following EASA decision.

The Pakistani airlines must propose to the UK CAA first, however I don’t see PIA mainly starting any operations yet. 2 777s out almost bare as they have been used for spare parts, plus one destroyed by the military. They’ll need to sort their fleet out first before they get off the ground. Their bids for GE90 engines failed 3 times now

UK CAA Eyes Lifting Pakistan Flight Ban, But Not Yet

LONDON—The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says it hopes to remove Pakistani carriers from the UK Air Safety List “in the near future” but will not immediately follow the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision to lift its ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

EASA on Nov. 29 ended its four-year suspension of PIA flights to Europe, citing restored confidence in the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority’s (PCAA) oversight capabilities. PIA was barred from operating to the EU and UK in May 2020, following the crash of Flight 8303, an Airbus A320-200 flying from Lahore to Karachi, which killed 97 people. The incident raised concerns about the validity of pilots’ licenses issued in Pakistan, including those held by PIA crew.

In a statement to Aviation Week, the UK CAA said it “recognizes the importance of air services” between the UK and Pakistan, emphasizing the economic and cultural ties such connections support. “While we therefore support the restoration of such connections as soon as practicable, the circumstances that led to the suspension of those services requires a rigorous safety case to be demonstrated first,” the UK CAA said.

The CAA confirmed it has been engaging with the PCAA, but no precise timeline for lifting the ban has been established. Despite this, the authority expressed optimism that a recommendation to remove Pakistan from the UK Air Safety List will be made “in the near future.”

In early 2020—before the pandemic and the crash of Flight 8303—PIA offered seven nonstop routes between Pakistan and the UK, flying to London Heathrow Airport from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot, as well as serving Islamabad-Manchester, Lahore-Manchester and Islamabad-Birmingham.

The sole nonstop link between the countries at the current time is British Airways’ flights between London Heathrow and Islamabad, which are offered twice a week using Boeing 777 aircraft.

With that, probably not enough aircraft to begin MAN or LHR. Speaking of LHR, I wonder how quickly they could get their slots back.

Aviation Teams from UK & USA Expected to Visit Pakistan in January/February 2025 for Allowing Pakistani Airlines Flights

Post by Abbas Ali

According to news sources:

Aviation teams from UK and USA are expected to visit Pakistan in January/February 2025 before making decision on permission to Pakistani airlines' commercial flights to the two countries.

Good news expected in year 2025 on the resumption of commercial flights from Pakistan to UK and USA, says Director General Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Nadir Shafi Dar.

European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has already allowed Pakistani airlines PIA and airblue to operate flights to European Union (EU) member states. PIA has planned to resume flights to Paris in January 2025.

Fares to destinations in Europe, UK and USA will come down with the resumption of direct flights by Pakistani airlines

the CAA have not given them permission to fly to UK.
No absolutely not. My point is that, even with three flights p/w to CDG, they just do not have any airframes to open UK, once and if they are cleared to do so. From what I have read, they do not have the money to resuscitate the grounded 777s, nor to lease in aircraft (but then, is Norse really chasing a contract with HB, a paper airline with £100 in the bank?!).

It will be nice to see PIA back, not least just from a sort of selfish "it'll be nice to see another wide-body again".

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
