I think the 4 Sunwing B738's will be based at ABZ, BFS, NWI and maybe BHX?
Or possibly CWL, pre pandemic i believe CWL was supposed to get a Sunwing 737 but ended up with a different company ASL i believe.

Very many thanks Matt995 for that research - it obviously must have taken you some time, unless you have insider information!

My understanding is that Bristol will have 6 based this summer - 5 737 and 1 787 unless there’s been a cull that I’m not aware of

I think the 4 Sunwing B738's will be based at ABZ, BFS, NWI and maybe BHX?

The A320's and A321's presumably will be leased from Smartlynx

2 B737 Max's dont yet appeared to be allocated anywhere, maybe spare aircraft, or allocate to another TUI airline?
Thanks for this. Don’t think it’s quite correct though.

GLA, for instance definitely has at least 2 737s based (presumably both MAXs) - on a Saturday there are early departures to IBZ and REU on TUI Airways.

The LGW 787 count is also surprisingly low, especially as the 767s are at MAN meaning LGW normally gets more 787s. I suppose the 787s do move around a lot throughout the week though so may just be Saturdays that are so low. You do have a LGW-MLB down as a 321 so presumably that’s actually a 787, meaning one more 787 and one fewer 321?

I also find it strange that they have so many MAXs at LGW and so few at MAN/NCL/DSA but they must have their reasons.

According to the above list all five 737s at BRS are MAX8s.

think i've finally got it right now!!!

That's leaves 1 spare B738, and 1 spare B789 (SE-RFZ) as standby aircraft.

Still a question mark over the A321 SmartLynx lease, but TUI website is still showing it's seating plan on some Manchester flights.

It’s showing as operating a flight to Burgas from Manchester tommorow.

new 737 Max G-TUMP due to be delivered to Gatwick later today, bring their Max fleet up to 18 aircraft, which is the number required for the summer schedule.

G-TUIF B788 still on maintenance at Luton, not flown since the 18th May
G-TAWO B738 hasn't flown since 31st May, currently at Prestwick being worked on?
G-TAWY B738 on maintenance at NWI since 7th June.

No wonder TUI are having to sub charter aircraft!

TUI issues important travel updates for holidaymakers ahead of peak summer rush

Travel firm has recruited hundreds more staff to work in airports, contact centres and its operations hub to provide extra support to customers

The UK’s largest tour operator has issued new travel advice for holidaymakers ahead of the peak summer getaway. TUI was one of only three airlines in the UK that managed to run more than 99 per cent of its planned flying programme in June, with only 27 out of 4,091 scheduled flights needing to be cancelled – just 0.66 per cent of services.

With more than two million customers already enjoying a holiday with TUI so far this year, and more than 750,000 in June alone, the travel giant has taken steps to build confidence and resilience in its summer holiday programme.

It has recruited hundreds more staff to work in airports, contact centres and its operations hub to provide extra support to customers. This includes thousands of travel experts and holiday reps available in stores, in hotels, on the phone or via the live chat in the TUI app seven days.

Emergency travel options include five aircraft on standby to be used if a plane becomes unavailable because of technical issues. It has even further strengthened relationships with partners, UK airports and destination airports to minimise any disruption and delays and offering day before bag drop at its busiest airports, including Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester to speed up the check in process.

Andrew Flintham, TUI managing director, said: "As one of the top performing airlines in the UK, we’re confident we’ve taken all the steps we can to ensure our customers can get away on holiday as planned this summer. We’ve recruited more staff, we have more aircraft available, and we’ve improved the way we communicate with customers to help them in the unlikely event things don’t go to plan.

"As the UK’s number one holiday company we want our customers to know they can trust in TUI this summer.”

You realise @Severn that the suits at TUI have been waiting eagerly for this breakldown as it will assist them no end in their planning and utilisation because until they read and digest the contents they won't be aware what their left hand has been telling their right hand to do! Let us hope that they read and fully understand your work so that their customers get some semblance of the service they are promised. All they need to do now is to get someone onto the job of updating their resort staff with what is going on!

@Severn's post that you refer to was dated 1st March so I'm slightly at a loss as to why you've mentioned it?

TUI Bases - Summer 2023

Looking at the schedule for peak-summer 2023, I've listed the bases for TUI below.
Quick summary of changes:
DSA - base closed - loss of 5x aircraft (1x 320 / 4x 738)

MAN and EMA gain aircraft and weekly departures vs 2022
EMA - gain of 2x based aircraft (1x 320 / 1x 738)
MAN - gain of 1x based 738. More SH flying on 787

BHX, LGW all see a few less weekly departures per week, BRS sees 9x less weekly departures
BRS - loss of 787 based all week - aircraft now visits Wed / Thu to operate CUN & MLB
BHX - loss of based 738. More SH flying on 787 (which is now 3x based most of the week)

9 trips in 9 days done 70 miles walked and over 23-00 photos taken with a large number taken at 20mph or above. Heavy rain on 1 day only
5 trips done and 45 miles walked,. Also the RAF has had 4 F35B Lightning follow me yesterday and today....
My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
wondering why on my "holidays" I choose to get up 2 hours earlier than when going to work. 6 trips in 6 days soon coming up with 3 more days to sort out
