Delhi to Kuala Lumpur (Daily) starts again in September. The Air India website does allow you to book the route via Delhi, but I suspect the advertising to merely to drum up bookings beyond Delhi.

As you can book nearly any route that AI serve any day, albeit via another airport like Frankfurt on days when there is no direct flight, it appears as if it is daily.

I think people are just pointing out facts and/or opinions best to relax a touch Ant.

What’s my reasoning a few examples here⬇
  • with PIA coming back it will be a massive back lash on the Indian industry
  • Qatar,Emirates and saudia are all connected stop offs points at Doha,Dubai and Jeddah
  • We have at least near around to 100 weekly flights to Heathrow and Gatwick every week from India and with the speculation of Man-BOM route .
What was happening with this Hans airways that invisibly was supposed to operate
First of all, PIA serves a whole different country, where as Air India serves a whole other country, both have nothing to do with each other. Secondly, PIA has hit a record breaking financial crisis, which they also aren’t getting any parts to repair the stored 777s needed. Air India wants all its cities connected with BHX, incl BOM, DEL,ATQ, and even COK ( which is very very low but has been discussed ). Just because they haven’t made a “significant” move to satisfy your needs doesn’t mean their not doing anything

I’m I was on about connecting flights because of pricing. That’s why I was saying Air India wouldn’t go daily unless there’s a massive surge in demand for extra flights

But that makes no sense? Connections from PAK aren’t available for India due to political relations, air India is doing well currently, so unless your watching and counting every single passenger that goes on BHX flights than your further than wrong

AI have served ATQ and DEL since 2013 I think. LFs were high pre pandemic and have recovered very well from what I've seen. Makes you wonder why there's been no increase or potential new route for years. If they're saying they want everything connecting through BHX why haven't they even attempted to increase on either route. It's not like BHX doesn't have the space for them as they're still well below capacity.

Yes AI are pushing with MAN for BOM and DEL hopefully soon which is huge and India is desperately underserved from there, they'll have the whole market.

BHX does have the space, but you also got to consider availability for aircraft, their intensions mainly being MAN and BHX a “last minute option “

Air India have a long on/off history at BHX starting in the 1982-84 using 707s via Moscow, then again 2005-2008 using 777s with the flight continuing on Toronto for a while.

ATQ and DEL have always been the market from Birmingham given the local dispora.

Right guys sorry about last night and I do admit I was talking a load of nonsense.

My point I was gonna make was We have at least 10 daily flights to Heathrow and Gatwick combined to the uk that’s 70 weekly flights operated by Air India.
Surely Air India would like to open Manchester for a new route

I appreciate the restrictions at the minute due to aircraft availability, however, in the 11 years since they launched 2 routes from BHX, they've managed to launch 5 routes from LGW most recently, a 5 weekly service to BLR, to me that seems like an unwillingness to increase anything from BHX. In addition to this in 2019 the then Mayor Andy Street launched an unsuccessful campaign and petition for direct flights to BOM. Furthermore to that there is a real risk that when AI launch MAN to BOM, and potentially DEL and BLR, that BHX could start feeling the loss.

I agree.

Air India do not operate like a normal business & don’t forget they up sticks and went to MAN previously, anything is possible with them & fairly recently they spoke about expansion here but said they were short of aircraft… then they got more aircraft and started new routes from LGW etc !

Emirates, Qatar, Saudia and Turkish all seemingly operate successfully from LHR, LGW, BHX and MAN so I don’t see any reason why Air India would be any different if they were to start ops at MAN. Nobody ever questions whether an airline starting BHX will effect the LHR/MAN loads!

Why do people seem to think AI magiced up spare aircraft.... No they didn't, they simply moved routes that currently flew from LHR and to LGW as they couldn't hold on to the LHR Slots....

Exactly this.... Air India has new owners (including a 25% stake from Singapore Airlines), has just merged with Vistara and has just invested nearly $100billion in ordering 470 aircraft in order to become a global top-tier airline. If air India get their way, i see them being at both Manchester and Birmingham... and growing significantly

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
