Flew out yesterday afternoon on FR2503.
On the way we drove past Viking car park, very full, Premium Short stay car park was just about full, airport ram-packed, never seen it so busy in October and so many school children there, people in the Fast Track line but didn't have Fast Track so slows it all down. 1432 lounge again very full where you were asked to share a table with other passengers. A lot of Jordie accents, New extension can't come soon enough. In all it was pretty good but the food in 1432 is very poor.

We get a substantial number of passengers from the Middlesborough/Darlington area, they sound a bit like geordies.

I came back from Majorca on Thursday and the lady next to me was returning to the Northallerton area with her husband after landing.
Three Jet 2 arrivals mid afternoon and we were the last to get to a length of the terminal que for passport control.

We were sat in the lounge looking out and FR from BVA parked up at gate 9, it was 20 minutes before a bus came for them and the doors were opened.

Arrived back from FAO today….passport control was approx 25 mins (no big deal)….won’t mention the non-moving steps again that need a person at the top…baggage was another 5-7 min wait, and straight out and off we went….at LBA we do not have a separate channel at passport control for arriving EU passport holders like most airports do…we have a single channel saying UK, EU and Swiss etc then the empty one saying ‘other’…whatever that means which is always empty….overall all very good, buses were there in a few mins.

normal uk set up at immigration is UK & EU/US/CA/AU & other e gate users in one queue (i know LBA doesn't have e gates atm), and then all others in another.

UK passport holders do not normally have a separate queue for themselves at arrivals in UK airports - so i don't know where you were seeing that.

My wife and I have EU passports and when we travel in Europe they have a separate passport control for UK passport holders then an EU one. Never knew that was the norm in the UK.

Usual round trip to Oslo via AMS at the weekend. Security rammed outward bound but it was half term! KLM used on three of legs, but SAS 321 NAO on AMS/OSL leg. Wouldn't use SAS again from choice for reasons that would get me into trouble with woke folk! Looking forward to LBAs new "wing" Anything but the rabbit warren at AMS on Gate D. 8/10 to LBA!

For the first time ever, sadly, my wife now needs airport and boarding assistance. (Arthritis in both knees)..Travelling on Sunday 5th, am to FUE with Jet2..We`re travelling with hand luggage only so have been told to visit the Assistance desk at the airport...Does anyone know exactly where it is situated please?..Im sure I`ve walked past it loads of times but when you don`t need it you don`t notice do you...
Also we are arriving by a taxi, is there a disabled drop off point nearer the main doors or is it just the normal drop off pick up area..
Thanks in advance.

The assistance desk is situated directly ahead as you enter the main terminal doors. Not the check in Hall B side.

You can get dropped off in the one hour free and direct the taxi to the disabled bays (turn left upon entering and then turn right near the bottom and left again). These are right next to the bus stop and it will take you to the terminal front doors.

The pick up and drop off is as close as you can get to the terminal front if you want to pay.

Link to maps showing where the disabled bays:

In addition to that, Arrow taxis can drop you off at the terminal front doors but they charge an extortionate amount.

Many thanks..I know where you mean now you mention it...Fingers crossed it all goes well..cheers.

They would be better off just closing it now for the time being while the new facilities are opened. As for the food, usually in larger establishments an English breakfast is cooked on mass and kept under a hot light which is never as appetising as cooked fresh.

Was the food served hot at least?

The egg was hot but the sausages were bone dry, rubbery and lukewarm (been sat in a lukewarm oven too long), and the bacon hard and chewy. This is our flagship lounge and its a disgrace…..yes, yes, yes the airport is undergoing a refurb but that lounge has a proper working kitchen and should produce food that's edible. Still the same entrance price mind you. The wife even said enough is enough and we may as well eat in the Saltaire Bar which looks 100 times better. Imagine business class passengers connecting to AMS…Aspire Lounge at MAN is 1000 times better and cheaper at £35.00.

I suggest you make an official complaint or nothing will be done about it.
And all they will say is that we are going through a refurb programme and give us a voucher for a free entry next time….no thanks. The food and lounges have always been well below par for a so called international airport and people on the forum ask why the likes of Turkish etc have never come here…well even with the new extension I won't be holding my breath on eating decent food in any of the lounges as it’s always been poor.

I was at the airport this morning. The boarding card scanners are installed as has been mentioned previously but are yet to be commissioned. Upstairs the queue for Gate 5 was back to the steps by the shops and was causing some congestion. Overheard a couple on the phone being told DSA would be open next Spring with Jet2 and Tui flying from there- wishful thinking, but it serves as a reminder that some pax will be lost when/if it reopens.

85 pax on Kl1020 and we used the airbridge.

I honestly don’t think any pax would be lost? I can’t see any airline reducing any LBA services because of this. One add DSA if it ever does open. Like previous when DSA shut, LBA didn’t gain massively. It was EMA and MAN who got TUIs based units.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
