I was at the airport this morning. The boarding card scanners are installed as has been mentioned previously but are yet to be commissioned. Upstairs the queue for Gate 5 was back to the steps by the shops and was causing some congestion. Overheard a couple on the phone being told DSA would be open next Spring with Jet2 and Tui flying from there- wishful thinking, but it serves as a reminder that some pax will be lost when/if it reopens.

85 pax on Kl1020 and we used the airbridge.
Why would Jet2 go to DSA when its in between LBA and EMA?. Never say never I suppose.

You hear that by a lot of people at the airport but they’re never right

The big difference between LBA and DSA is that the former is a privately funded commercial enterprise going from strength to strength whilst the latter will be a taxpayer subsidised vanity project which like all vanity projects will ultimately fail with the taxpayer left footing the bill whilst roads deteriorate and potholes remain unfilled.

Came back from FAO yesterday on FR2504…..parked up at stand 8 and straight up the steps, we were the only aircraft there and straight through passport control BUT a 25 min wait for our cases was ridiculous.

Sorry to break this news to you but that is how long it takes to offload baggage from the hold of an aircraft. 25 minutes is good going. The quick passage through immigration will just have made your wait seem longer.

Went through the Airport smoothly this morning at 8am. I was surprised how many pax there was at that time. Only gripe, security was `less than 15mins', it actually took me 30 mins. They need to get their info sorted.

I think the less than 15 mins sign means from that point.

In perhaps a worrying sign ahead of summer for the airport, queues for security reached the entrance doors this morning.

That's an early spring Tuesday morning not in school holidays....

Security scanners were moving quite quickly, the hold up seemed to be slow progress through the new automatic boarding pass scanners.

The new self scanning entrance gates to Security were causing problems yesterday requiring no less than 5 members of staff to monitor them. There’s only 5 of them and they were causing a lot of teething problems. At AGP there’s a bank of 20 and people simply present their boarding passes and zip through, not at LBA. They were slow and problematic causing significant problems, rejecting many presented boarding passes and causing frustration for staff and passengers. Let’s hope that they were teething problems before the main season.

The sign was at the end of the queue. They are not going to be dead accurate, but twice as long is too inaccurate for me.
Yes, there were problems with the boarding pass scanners but people will get used to them. A lot of the problems were due to people not using them properly. When they were shown, they "flew" through.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
