You really would think that as its new and out to make an impression, that it would run like clockwork. Very disappointing..Thanks for the heads up about the Yorkshire Lounge as well..We are out from LBA a week on Tuesday but think we`ll take our chances in the coffee shop

The previous lounge always had a proportion of scummy individuals so don't think anything will change here at the low end. There is a big difference in lounge experience between those accessible by ticket/privilege only and those that will accept anyone willing to pay. As most passengers are just flying out as opposed to having a long wait between connections, I struggle to see why anyone would pay to use these. I'm normally only in the airport less than an hour so just doesn't make sense for me.

In the Camden coffee shop, waiting for Ls249 to Fuerteventura..got dropped off in the free car park and 6 mins walk to security.. albeit just with hand luggage..very efficient and polite staff at security but Border Force were out in numbers with a sniffer dog before you got to the lounges.. looking at the age of the travellers, doubt they caught anyone..LBA busy but coping well so far a good experience..

Thank you all..Ill I do more on the trip tomorrow..but Jet2 staff have the job nailed..we were called to the gate 50mins before departure very well marshalled and pleasant ground staff and due to their efforts we took off early..nothing to fault LBA on....apart from 3sinks in one of the gents with wonky taps..great relaxing experience

Friend of mine recently flew from Leeds with a large party to Dublin. Comments were as follows:
nowhere was open when we arrived- coffee bar specifically mentioned, albeit they did arrive at 03:30!
also commented that the walkway was very dirty. Not reading much into these comments but customer perception is important.

I think if you arrive at any airport two hours before it opens for flights or two hours before the last flight leaves all commercial operations will be closed down.
We flew out of LBA last October at 7.15pm and I have pictures of basically all the ground floor without a soul in sight and virtually all the bars etc were closed.
In June we flew out of Malaga at 9pm and even the duty free was closed as well as most of the other retail operations. You can only afford to employ staff if they have sufficent customers to serve and obviously the regulations on 4.5 hour total shifts make the starting time crucial to ensure staff in place when really needed, I imagine 5am to 9.30am or similar.
With regards the dirty walkway, it must be very hard to maintain clean as rubbish can easily blow in as its not completely sealed from the elements. The prevailing wind in the u.k. blows all rubbish straight towards this walkway, its an almost impossible battle to keep clean, unless you ensure no doors etc are ever opened.

Reason they were so early is the coach driver had got stuck in traffic a couple of weeks earlier and his pax nearly missed the flight. I agree though its overkill yo get there so early.
Apparently my friend flies from Liverpool sometimes so presumably a comparison was drawn with their walkway.
There is no excuse for not cleaning anyway. If its an area that gets dirty quickly it should be cleaned more often- simple.

Flew out to Gerona Friday 25th with Ryanair and back today the 28th
This is the first time I have been To LBA since I left my job there 2 1/2 years ago

We had pre- booked car parking in the short stay, no issues here and only a couple of minutes walk to the terminal which was great

Security was through in 5 minutes even though it was the busy morning rush, staff were friendly and polite

Airside was absolutely rammed with people and there were plenty of people sat on the floor as no seating available

We choose to have Breakfast in the new Cabin Bar, again was very busy and the staff were struggling to cope, tables were full of stuff and not been cleaned up

The food was good but as you expect was expensive for the amount you get

We was at gate 9 so had to walk to the portacabin around stand 12, only comment here was slow boarding and it was raining so passengers were getting wet

On the return buses were a bit slow in getting to the aircraft

Passport control was through in 5 mins and was on my way home 35 mins after touching down

Nobody wants to work a 3hr shift - morning and afternoon rush - or work 3hrs then 5 hrs off and return for another 3 hr shift. My opinion of what happens for what it is worth.

Flew out of LBA today to Murcia SAN Javier (last time flying there as it moves by my next flight). No bags to check as hang luggage only but the queue at security was small and moved fast. Went straight through the packed terminal to the lounges. First time in the White Rose Suite and it was extremely busy, we had to wait for a table. We were flying out of gate 10 which is the worst gate of all. Flight full with Ryanair. Overall a very positive experience if LBA and seemed very busy.

Also saw the ITV film crew filming the new series which is to be set at the airport on my way through duty free.

Had a weekend in IBZ with the Mrs. Flew out Friday morning have to say we cruised through security but departures was rammed. We managed to get a seat in Cabin bar and was interesting to see them actively diverting dressed up hen/stag dos from there to other bars. Until the flights started boarding you could barely navigate through the place due to the numbers of people. Hopefully will improve when the new seating area is open. Landed lunchtime yesterday at the same time as another flight - 5 full buses heading for arrivals at the same time. Short queue to get into the terminal and up the stairs but got through passport control without too much delay. The queue was down the corridor but it moved pretty swiftly. Bags were already there when we got downstairs so straight out. Can't complain overall.

Flew out on the 21st May returned 12th June.
Landed just after 2pm with 5 other planes on the ground and with only one wheel chair lift from the ground floor to passport and one back down again to baggage, queues for the down lift backed up to the passport desks, which had the effect of creating a queue from passport desk back to the up lift, making it impossible for new arrivals to get even in the terminal. Okay yesterday, but totally unacceptable in bad weather.
Surely within the ability of the airport to put a passport desk downstairs, the desk upstairs was totally dedicated to wheel chair passengers , so would not make any difference to other passengers. The number and position of wheel chair passenger is known, so this desk needs only to be managed at peak times, releasing the staff member back upstairs.
This would save many hours of staff time, we had a dedicated member staff pushing us through the airport, his total time with us was just under an hour, yet pushing time probably 5 minutes, standing time with us, 50 minutes, he did not even have to wait for our cases as they were already in the baggage hall, this is normal.
Instead of handling just us in the hour, maybe 5 or 6 other passenger.
I know I bore folk with my observations on special assistance, but there are some simple steps that could be taken to ensure a better experience.

As someone who, when working, often had responsibility for projects which included provision of suitable facilities for people with disabilities, I understand your frustration Tarn Spotter, but you really need to make these points to the airport management. I am sure if you wrote to David Laws he would ensure that your points are passed to the appropriate person (probably the lady who is in charge of airport development projects). The good news of course is that the airport are planning a terminal extension in the winter which will provide a brand new ground floor passport control and baggage reclaim area, so all these issues should become a thing of the past.

Thanks for your response White Heather, having fought for 50 years to obtain better conditions for the disabled I really need to pass on the baton to someone younger. In addition I think airport management and some LBA airlines now file my correspondence in the WPB. Its just not the events I illustrate in this thread I would have to bring to David Laws attention, but many other short comings. I just hope others who have the same passion I had 50 years ago can pick up the baton for future generations.
In addition i have been told off by my heart specialist that I need to tone down my campaigning mode, especially have fought for the last 26 years to leave a certain european organisation, which has taken up virtually all my day time hours for the last 5 years.
When I look back 70 years to airport facilities for disabled people, progress has been made, but were only 50% of the way to a proper structure, there is still a huge way to go.

Just returned from Wroclaw. I flew out on Thursday at 5pm. I’d booked myself into the 1432 Lounge so I arrived around 1340 to make full advantage of it. I’d pre-booked FastTrack via the Ryanair App....complete waste of £4. The queues were moving so quickly...both fast track and the normal queue I hadn’t even got my liquids out of my carry on before I reached the trays at the scanners. Departures was rammed! I headed straight for the lounge. Starbucks still behind wraps so I’ll wait till next month to have a look at that. I was wondering if I was a bit mad parting with £35 for the 1432 after recent reviews but my worries were soon forgotten. I reported to the lounges front desk and was then walked round to the 1432 and introduced to the lounge assistant Sue, who was wonderful. 3 glasses of Prosecco and 2 Vodka & Lemonades later I was served with the best hot turkey and cranberry roll. It was very relaxed in there, no more than 10 people in while I was there. The other 2 lounges were a lot busier. I’d definitely use the lounge again.

Returned from WRO on Sunday evening. Parked on Stand 12. No buses to meet us do we walked in. No problem for me and I think it was definitely quicker than waiting for buses to board. No queues at all for immigration and all 8 desks open. I think we landed at the right time cos 4 flights landed as we were disembarking and walking up to immigration. Glad to say LBA ticked every box for me this trip

Part of this is also access related but felt this was the better of the two threads to post in. Saturday 29Jun left home at 1010 in south Leeds, using the bus with a change in Leeds City Centre. Breezed through security and were sat in the Cabin Bar at 1140 - a mere 90 minutes after leaving home. Landed at 1205 yesterday and two buses later were back home for 1335. Seriously cannot fault a thing about the whole experience - other than perhaps the price of a pint, but then they do have that captive market. There are definitely positive things happening at LBA, albeit this was all witnessed at relatively quiet times of the day
