Only yesterday the airport communicated that ALC is on sale for W24/25 and I was beginning to get concerned about AGP; but with this new info, I'd suspect (and hope) AGP W24/25 release to be imminent too!

🇪🇸 ✈️ (y) ☀️
Let’s hope so. It would also be good to see the return of BCN with Vueling for S25.

Is anyone else getting less optimistic Malaga won’t return for winter? It’s getting into mid June soon and usually they are on sale by now!

Quite!

I was looking at booking AGP for a mid-February break; so will more than likely have to go with ALC instead.

:sneaky:

Does anyone recall if Vueling have left it this late to add Malaga in the past?
Not that I can remember. It is getting to the point where we might have to conseed that the route may well be dropped for the winter.

A good sign of when routes were previously released is through this forum, especially for Ryanair and Vueling. The release dates are all a bit random. Alicante is usually released first and there's been lots of concerned posts about AGP (And PMI/BCN) being pulled, yet AGP has always come through.
It is very late in the day for them to release Winter flights though with it usually being around the end of May.

Vueling
8th Mar 2019 for Winter 2019
5th Jun 2019 for ALC for Summer 2020
19th Jan 2020 for Winter 2020
26th May 2022 for Winter 2022
29th June 2022 for ALC Apr - Sep 2023 (Early release)
9th Nov 2022 for AGP for Summer 2023
17th May 2023 for Winter 2023

Vueling have put Alicante on sale now for part of the summer; up until mid June.

Mon, Wed & Sat flights.

Still no winter Malaga or summer as it stands

When I was searching last night I did see some greyed out prices on winter flights to Malaga. I couldn’t work out if it was via connection, a bug or to be put on sale soon. It only seemed to work on mobile as a one way option.

At this stage i'd be very surprised if Vueling hasn't dropped Malaga. Hopefully the airport can get Ryanair to replace the lost flights.

I too would agree that AGP won’t be making an appearance for W24/25 unfortunately*.

By now most airlines will have put W24/25 on sale and be looking forward to S25 schedules - we’re almost in July, so well into S24 operations…

Let’s hope that AGP returns for S25 and they haven’t been put off by FR taking them on!

*more than happy to be proved wrong!

It can't be helpful for travel agents for them to be putting the route onsale so late.

Sorry guys. It must have been a glitch as those greyed out prices no longer show.

On the other hand, although it’s very late for releasing winter flights when I looked back at the ORY announcement a few years back that was in September and due to start November. Whilst Malaga appears to be a lost route this winter hope may not all be lost. 🤞

I’ve noticed Cardiff airport socials still seem to be answering queries about Malaga with “we’re waiting for Vueling to finalise their winter schedule…”. Either they know it’s not running this winter and aren’t letting on or they genuinely don’t know/ still assume it’s returning. Surely the airport and airline would know by now if it’s running this winter.

I'm pretty sure its not going to happen but I expect that the airport doesn't want to admit it and they may still be trying to get Vueling to operate it or Ryanair to take it on.

Vueling have released their Alicante summer dates up to September 2025. It looks like the Wednesday slot is moving to a Tuesday meaning 3 carriers to Alicante on a Tuesday.

Was hoping Malaga would be onsale by now but it does look like it didn't go onsale until November last year.

I’m thinking this has quietly been dropped.

Such a shame as VY used to have a great monopoly at CWL on 4 different routes and at least a daily departure, to now just 3 flights a week on a single route…

CWL is crying out for a low-cost option to PMI, and to some extent the return of BCN is also much needed.

I wouldn't be surprised sadly. Vueling slow withdrawal from Cardiff is really sad to see. As you said PMI and BCN are routes Cardiff need back and it needs the options on a route like Malaga as well.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
