As I said in my previous post there are multiple factors at play that will make or break a route. Some are out of airline or airport management hands. Recession, journey times to airport, the price of a ticket.

At this moment in time Heathrow isn't a viable option. Post the impending recession, potential terminal improvements, improved connectivity to the airport and the route may one day look more attractive to any would be operator.

20 on the flight I took down to LHR on Wednesday. Looked at early trains from Leeds to London, all well over £100 one way. I paid £43 with FlyBe. If this route was advertised this week it would be full!

Exactly, if only the public knew there is a leeds-london flight at under £50 but thats the issue, no one is aware of the service.

Due to end 29 October apparently so approximately 6 weeks still to run
Ok, but didn't they say 1st October originally?

Either way, they haven't bothered to advertise from day one, so they aren't going to now. Only LBA themselves have advertised it via their on line Facebook page etc. I doubt they will bother either now Flybe have axed the route. Still seems crazy to me to axe a LHR route from an airport with a huge catchment area, and replace it with a route from Cornwall with a small catchment area (in terms of passengers) and in winter too when tourism is at its minimum. And still no interlining.

Can't help thinking Flybe2 management are as daft as Flybe1 were, opting for thin routes, or busy routes already served by established carriers, and ignoring some amazing route options from here that are not served at all. Such an opportunity, so far wasted.

I fear not that well. A friend flew a week ago to Belfast on EI and said the flight was “nearly full”. Given the load factor in July was around 50% with the full schedule and the lower fares on the Flybe website it may not be so good. Of course I may be and hope I am completely wrong.

I don't think you are. Domestic loads are down generally, not just at LBA or BHD, and it's those that have dragged the average load factor across all flights at LBA to around 84% in August, certainly not helped by the miserable loads on LHR. Taken as a whole, there are plenty of passengers for Belfast, but because there are so many flights daily and three carriers. in total, average loads aren't that great. As the new kid on the block, I imagine Flybe's average loads are the lowest although there are no figures I have that confirm that.

Seems Flybe are living up to their old Flymaybe name with today's LHR arrival still shown as not arriving on the arrivals board and all remaining outbound Belfast flights shown as Cancelled.

G-JECY has gone tech. They now have No spare aircraft either what with the leased ATR & Embraer going back to there respective owners.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 2nd time
If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
