Re #96 above reporting a new Bournemouth-Edinburgh route at 2 x weekly for this summer, I note that there is now a similar 2 x weekly route between Bournemouth and Belfast International. I stand to be corrected but I wasn't aware that easyJet previously flew between Bournemouth and Belfast.

I was aware of the ski season Bournemouth-Geneva route that has operated for a number of years in the season.

Decided to put this in the Bournemouth thread as the airline HQ is apparently here.

European Cargo did not disclose any potential routings other than to say the cargo flights from the UK to the US would cover the transport of cargo and mail. It also asked for its application to be treated expeditiously as it wants to start its flights as soon as possible.

I don't know what, if any, the link is with the present owners but Bournemouth-based European Aviation, later called European Aviation Air Charter, operated charters and ACMI services during the 1990s. In their early days they operated Boeing 737-200s and had a connection with Bournemouth-based Bath Travel who operated Palmair with a leased aircraft from European Aviation. I think European also acquired some BAC 1-11s.

European operated weekly charter flights for tour companies from my local airport at Bristol for a number of years in the 1990s. The company ceased to exist in the 'noughties' by which time they had acquired some larger aircraft.

I think I read there are some Tui charters to Barbados from Bournemouth next year.

I tend to let BOH slip off my radar too often. Although on the South Coast Bournemouth is actually in the English South West Government Region albeit these days the regions are primarily for statistical purposes after 'quangos' such as the South West Regional Development Agency ceased to exist a decade ago.

BOH has had a very decent year in the circumstances. It's doing well with cargo flights, primarily it seems carrying Covid equipment.

Passenger-wise it handled 19,416 of them in December a rise of 686.4% on December 2020. Atms were up 190.7%. Its rolling 12-month total was 200,488, an increase of 14% on 2020. This is also its annual total for the calendar year of 2021 and it represents 25.2% of 2019's total, the last pre-pandemic calendar year.

Above figures taken from CAA stats released today.

Well over 4 million steps taken this year already. And about 12,500 photos.
The joys of travel. Train from Edinburgh to Leeds is cancelled so having another night in Edinburgh and heading back in the morning!
Tbf Edinburgh isn't a bad city to be stuck in.
A week off work done which resulted in 6 day trips , 50 miles walked and only 2500 photos, Going to work is more of a holiday as I tended to be out of my flat an hour earlies in my week off and back for after 8pm
according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.
