Ryanair plans for S20 from Manchester

Pisa, Italy
Katowice, Poland (New for summer)
Milan Malpensa (New for summer)
Prague, Czech Republic (New for summer)

Nothing major in the grand scheme of things.
The Pisa was ex LPL, but they are moving for some reason. Milan and Prague again ex LPL, except they are still available although reduced. Thanks a bunch !

I am a massive fan of LBA before anyone starts giving me a bit of jip.....yes I know it’s an LBA forum but this is a Ryanair thread.

Just come back to MAN from FAO on FR4051....182 on board and it was on time leaving and arrived 20 mins early, I must say MAN meet & greet was a doddle, passport control a doddle, and the overall experience there better than LBA...only had hand luggage and sat on row 3 but came driving out of the airport car park 25 mins after landing after parking on the furthest stand at T3...quickish for such a big airport or maybe I was just lucky but 9/10 experience.
We have a Ryanair thread and a passenger experience thread on our Manchester page so it would be better posted there.

Back in the summer of 2019 Michael O'Leary stated "We are starting a series of discussions with our airports to determine which of Ryanair's underperforming or loss making bases should suffer these short term cuts" LBA was one of these bases where cut backs were introduced ...so why is LBA considered as a loss making/underperforming base?

Ryanair have been messing with the summer 2020 schedule a little bit again so that the 1+ LBA based aircraft is worked hard. Also some flights have been rescheduled to be operated by non based aircraft including some shown to be operated by the Polish based division "Buzz"

Just been reading elsewhere, that O`Leary has given an interview to RTE in which he admits that he`s not expecting MAX deliveries before October 2020...If then..When you consider the MAX was to be the bedrock of medium haul flying ie LBA to Canaries (now pulled) it may be that this reduction by Ryanair will be reversed when the fleet is able to expand once again. On the other hand its possible that the scenarios will change between now and then, but I think all hope is not lost. I think that Ryanair will return in greater numbers to LBA at some point in the medium term. Just not now though.

Except O'Leary said in Summer 2019 that these cuts (which effected LBA) would just be to "poorly performing or loss making bases' , so this doesn't give much hope if that's how he regards us.

I think if LBA had fitted into either of those categories O`Leary would have chopped it long ago and or removed the 3rd aircraft. They are chopping routes all over the place simply because they havent the aircraft. Some of the NG`s, instead of being sold on, are coming up to very long and expensive D checks. Something has to give. I would urge an open mind until their fleet renewal issues are fully resolved, then lets take stock at that time. After all, hope springs eternal, as they say.

I find it hard to imagine that Glasgow was a poorly performing base for Ryanair, and would have thought it definitely performed better than the neighbouring airport at Prestwick, yet Glasgow lost their base completely last year and dropped to only around a dozen flights weekly. And this was before the MAX issues came to the fore.

I also think, like Paully, that LBA will see an increase in Ryanair presence again in the future, when LBA has sorted itself out and when either Boeing are able to release the MAX for delivery - or alternatively given Ryanair their money back and alternative aircraft have been sourced from other manufacturers. That seems hard to imagine, but could happen if the MAX isn't given its airworthiness approvals by the FAA before long. Other airlines could follow. They simply cannot afford to just stand still waiting for this aircraft to fly again and decisions will have to be made.

I think also - many of us including myself have complained recently about higher prices from LBA, if these fares are representative of the fares the majority of PAX are paying then yields must be higher than MAN and anybody worth their salt would chase the money! My bet is as I said earlier FR asked for cost reductions, LBA said no because they want to fund the development so FR have rattled cages at LBA!

Ryanair are now saying they might start to receive first deliveries of its delayed Boeing 737-MAX's by April. If thats the case hopefully LBA will get its 2nd based aircraft back sooner rather than later than planned.

So long as they stick them somewhere else!

Thanks all....but wouldn't it have been better to have blamed the aircraft situation (if that's the case) rather than reducing supply at 'poorly performing ' airports if that's the case? And surely it would be more diplomatic in terms of their bases.
Also, Ryanair, as a PLC.....I doubt they'd issue incorrect information knowing that false reporting could effect their financials and share price if it wasnt accurate.

This seems to be a totally different story then the one put out by the FAA last week.
Not only have the design faults of the two accidents to be sorted out, the tail wiring now has to be re designed for the tail on both the MAX and NG model (hundreds of planes) add in the rotor engine problem and the fact every pilot will need simulator training I think the wrong year included here. The simulator training plan has not even been agreed, it was only last week Boeing agreed it was needed.
How in 3 months you get the programmes and simulators ready, never mind get the pilots trained, give confidence to the general public the plane safe. We dont even know the actual cause of the two accidents and what alterations needed to the aircraft.
Were now seeing in America Boeing employee submission to the company with regard to the aircrafts faults, during the last three years, it does not make easy reading, the open system of American justice wonderful, but without a filter a worry for a frequent flyer like me, if a small percentage of the submissions truthful any trust in Boeing shot to pieces.
The FAA advise was the MAX unlikely to fly in 2020, the new Boeing CEO did not contradict this story, maybe if Wille Walsh does not move to a middle East airline, Boeing may take him on to sort out this mess.
In relation to Ryanair and the Max, at the AGM MOL stated as 50 planes less needed for summer 2020 then planned and extended leasing on the existing fleet had been agreed, no MAX were planned to fly before 2021 as reducing the fleet by 10% well in hand.

Problem is that the Airbus order book for alternative aircraft is full for years ahead so it would be a very long, impractical wait.
