Bit of a odd route? And hardly any lead in time? Not sure how sustainable all these random two/three weekly routes Hainan keep launching will be in the long term.

I think someone posted before, that the Chinese tend to book their flights late.

There target will be Chinese tourists. It's possible that the flight may be backed by a tour company?

Its also interesting that they have totally bypassed the UK. Mmmmmmmm i wonder why ??;)
Probably because they may not have the rights to this route. Shenzhen Airlines already operate LHR so that would then leave other airports and with China it's quite possible that Hainan may not have the rights for MAN or EDI or were lobbied specifically to operate Dublin by the local authority or touring company. I'm pretty sure it won't be down to Brexit!

Maybe, but considering Hainan only operate Dublin a few times a week via Edinburgh I find it quite strange they are launching a direct flight to a secondary city with a only few weeks lead in. Surely making DUB-PEK direct would make more sense? I do find Hainan’s business model quite strange - perhaps that’s why they’re reportedly bleeding so much money?

From little i know of Chinese aviation it's all to do with rights and local politics. Which can make decisions mystifying at times.

Apparently Stobart Air will operate 8 flights a day (I'm assuming 4 rotations) to Amsterdam on behalf of KLM with an E195.

Finnair will increase their winter frequency from 5 weekly to 9 weekly.

A few summers ago Norwegian TATL services were rumoured for BHX, but I have no doubt that we would also have been a victim of the MAX situation - as would Monarch if they had survived, and prior to their demise they also had plans to do TATL from BHX with the MAX! Strange how things have panned out.

Yes it seems Norwegian are cutting their losses with the MAX transatlantic flights. They aren't having a good time of it! Apparently they have 8 787s out of action due to accidents and engine problems.

Looks like i'm becomig a bit of a Dublin regular now! Just booked Dublin to Heathrow with Aer Lingus on their A320. Will be good to see what their short haul product is like after flying long haul with them to and from the USA in December and January. Also be a chance to see how they compare to Ryanair who i'll be flying into Dublin with in the morning from Bristol.

Cathay Pacific cuts now extending into Europe as Dublin has been dropped for W19/20. Frankfurt and Paris also see reduced frequencies.

Flights currently planned to resume in March but obviously subject to the situation in Hong Kong.
