This used to be a friendly forum with light hearted banter and discussion, not a bridge under which pro DSA or anti LBA trolls lurk who are here only to stir up trouble.
Everyone here is passionate about aviation and there local airports and we all need to respect that ahd not insult each other. We can have debate and discussion but need to refrain from making it personal.

WH, all I can say is that your contribution is valued by the majority of us here in the forum. Please don’t allow one person and their comments put you off from contributing as you do, you views are valued and the forum would be lacking without your insight😀
Thanks HX3, much appreciated, (❤️), although it's not the first or even the second time, and there are limits. I can take criticism and even the odd insult but what I won't accept is insinuation that I have undeclared connections with LBA or that I might even be paid by them to promote them. If Bob O'JOb doesn't know the meaning of words then he needs to look them up before making libellous comments.

Thank you again and to the moderators.

All I’ll say is I Can’t believe I’ve actually just read that post.

As always @White Heather you continue to have my support. I really do hope you Continue to do the great work you do for our Airport & the support group. Without you hard work and dedication this forum wouldn’t be the same without your input and feedback.

Thanks WH for your excellent summaries of the Committee meetings which I always look forward to and your contribution in posting other often though provoking comments. I'm saddened that someone with opposing views (which have always been welcomed when appropriately put forward for discussion) should stoop to personal insults which exposes the true intent of his/her presence on the forum.

Hi all,

I just thought I'd like to say how very much appreciated @White Heather is as outstanding member of the community and echo what everyone else has said. From an outsiders perspective with little to knowledge of said subjects discussed across the forum but with years of experience moderating online communities with an open mind, I'll say this:

If anyone feels like they are being trolled or have any concerns about anything, then please report it to the team and we'll deal with it accordingly, responding back to the trolls only feeds them and they'll get more kicks out of the responses you give them. This is a friendly community and different opinions and debates are very much welcome across the board, but when it starts to get personal or with an ulterior motif such as only coming on to certain forums/threads to throw mud against certain people (or airports or airlines for that matter), then it's time to draw a line ;)

Don’t walk away and let the zealots win.

The way I see it you need to be around this forum for when DSA sadly fails (again) and you mark my words under its current guise it may technically stay open burning the public purse but ultimately it will fail to attract anything close to the passenger throughput it will need to be commercially successful!

I personally find this whole DSA situation rather sad, as a proud Yorkshire man seeing a successful aviation scene in our county is something we should all strive for. Too long have the midlands, north west and even north east had one over on us with their ambitions and somewhat cooperative ways, this whole BS nonsensical behaviour from the DSA lot and our local media outlets somewhat suggesting LBA needs to close to facilitate DSA is utter tripe!

Both airports in their own way can be operationally successful, LBA has the bigger catchment and therefore will almost certainly have a larger passenger throughput however, DSA has land, a nice 2800m runway (no where near the longest in the UK btw) and links to the motorway network. DSA for me should be aiming at the lucrative Freight/MRO markets as well as a paintshop and even part out companies, with the aforementioned and a sprinkling of passenger ops I think it’s got a chance.

The them or us infighting Yorkshire attitude must stop otherwise we will always be second best to other regions.

I agree about WhiteHeather who has taken it upon herself to actively attend the meetings and report back in detail on here. LBA is not ideal for anyone outside of the ‘golden triangle’ of WY and Harrogate etc. However it is a huge catchment area, probably one of the most under-served in the U.K. currently. The problem for Yorkshire when compared to the other regions you mention is simple geography. The population outside of WY is spread out over a large amount of land, therefore it’s difficult to compete with North West and Midlands. This is why DSA struggled, because it’s central on a map but just too close to other airports to be of any competitive or strategic advantage. It’s also why I would happily see it turned over for other uses so that LBA can naturally grow without the added pain of competition, and perhaps HUY can have a bit of confidence to modestly grow to catch up. Shame for Sheffield but it’s not exactly badly served by choice of departure points is it!?

KLM seem committed to LBA, I don’t see why they would go anywhere. In fact im certain LBA management see them as the jewel in the crown for global connectivity.

Hearing from numerous different sources that more exciting news is still to come, so hopefully that comes off but it’s not for this thread. However in this case I just wanted really to echo the support of @White Heather

Aviador said: The user in question has revisited since this morning and hasn't made any attempt to correct himself. So for that reason he has been given some temporary leave from the forum. Hopefully enough time for the soap to work as he washes his mouth out.

Please keep us updated Aviador. I'm sure all readers will be interested.

By the way page 66 (the next page) takes you to the KLM thread so not continuing this thread. Is this something that can be corrected? So my reply to Aviadors answer on the shrill comment is now on the KLM page!!!!! I think.

Only give him access to the DSA feed, that will keep him quiet.

Unfortunately it's not possible to block specific members from posting in individual forums, we can only apply a thread ban or a whole forum wide ban so the next best thing for naughty members are to put all their posts through a moderation queue, which usually works quite well ;)

The comments made to WH were totally unacceptable, but working in the Police, I strongly believe we should also allow someone a chance to rehabilitate themselves. Hopefully, the time away from the forum will allow them to reflect on their comments and how they should conduct themself in the future.

I have only just read the posts of Bob O' Job and it stands out a mile that he is "out of touch" with reality. Following his initial post, which was very well answered by WH, he then posts a barrage of insults. He can't win with his point of view, so insults the one person on here who is always informative and polite when posting. I do not think he will come back as he has lost the plot and should realise that his attempt to "derail" the LBA expansion, has failed.
WH, I know what it is like to put yourself out for a cause and get insulted for it. You will feel it is hard to carry on with your role but, I along with all the other members, hope you will carry on. :):):):):)

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
