It's a few years since they banded that idea around and it's still hasn't materialised and now they're suggesting it will be several more years? I think it's a PR ploy to keep Ryanair in the limelight.

yeah, the notion seems to have been around forever. I am of the persuasion that it is a real plan, Ryanair are going through something of a customer focused transformation, of sorts, it remains to be seen how it actually pans out, but at least it is an effort to recognise passengers' needs. I ,for one, would welcome seeing a couple of A330's in blue and yellow serving east coast US from Dublin. If anyone can do it, he can do it.

BA chief Walsh: Ryanair's £10 ticket to US won't happen

Ryanair's plans for transatlantic flights for just €10 will never get off the ground because of the taxes on long-haul flights. according Willie Walsh, chief executive of British Airways parent company IAG.

Mr Walsh took a swipe at rival Michael O'Leary, the budget alrline's chief executive who claims Ryanair will offer flights to New York and Boston for €10 - and some seats for just 99 cents, as he reported a return to profit at IAG.

I am surprised that Willie Walsh has fallen into this trap. He clearly does not address the fact that Ryanair could operate these flights from almost any airport in Europe whilst his own airline is stuck at the most expensive airport in the world. Mr Walsh quotes APD as being £69. Yes, in Britain, this is the case. Mr O'Leary has quoted the price in Euros which would suggest that this fare would be available from a point in the Eurozone. Mr Walsh also fails to address the long history of Ryanair selling tickets at a loss in order to boost business overall.

Or, perhaps, Mr Walsh is going on the offensive because he is absolutely terrified that Ryanair will do to his long haul business what they have done to nearly every short haul, full service airline in Europe, namely, making it obsolete.

Ryanair jets damaged in Stansted Airport collision

Two Ryanair jets were damaged when they collided on the the ground at London's Stansted Airport.

One plane was approaching the stand and the other was "pushing back" when the incident happened at about 06:45 BST.

The wing-tip of one plane and the tail-cone of another "made contact", said Ryanair spokesman Robin Kiely.

No passengers or crew were injured, an airport spokesman confirmed. The Air Accident Investigation Board is investigating.

Oh dear. Ryanair is already short of aircraft this summer. It seems that two more will have to be leased.

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (28 Nov) announced that its order to purchase up to 200 Boeing “gamechanger” 737 MAX aircraft (100 firm & 100 options) has been approved by 99.93% of shareholders who voted at its EGM in Dublin this morning. When finalised (and if all options are exercised) this deal will be valued at over $22bn at current list prices.

Does anybody have any operational comparisons available between the 737-800 and the 737 MAX, ie. runway landing and take-off requirements?

Ryanair confirms it's 'considering' transatlantic flights

No new news really as the airline announced it's intention to "look" at transatlantic operations some time ago now. The airline has said it is "looking" at a possible switch to Airbus with a view to purchasing the new A350 to operate on transatlantic routes. Then again, the airline says it hasn't ruled out the Boeing 787 dreamliner either.

Does anybody think this venture will ever come to fruition? Norwegian Airlines, has confirmed it's intention to expand it's similar low cost transatlantic operation from the UK along with both WOW Air and Icelandair.

If Mr O'Leary thinks he can make money, it will happen. I can only see the 10 euro fare being used as a "loss leader" as with many other offers they have made.

They'll probably wait for another economic crisis so they can get some at knocked down prices.

I wonder when the time will arrive that carriers will pay you, or offer completely free flights to passengers, with all revenues being generated from intensive advertising and product placement ?? :pleasantry:
Snack products etc... sold on Ryanair for example, pay the airline to have their brand available on flights, costing the airline nothing, and ryanair still profit from the sales,, my suggestion is just taking that system to the next level...
It is often wondered how they can offer such low fares, the aircraft are the same, same fuel, same costs,,, yes there are clever ways of keeping costs down, the cleverest being the fare price being offset against product sales, which cost the company nothing.

Impossible is nothing.

Ryanair order 100 737 MAX 200, with a possible 100 more, good to see !!

Ryanair are looking at adding Wi-Fi within the next couple of years.

They are also exploring options regarding interlining, there are some interesting comments about Stansted.

Ryanair plans to introduce inflight Wi-Fi within two years and is likely to add some form of interlining within five years, according to chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs.

Doing your grocery shopping whilst flying on Ryanair? Where would all the stock be kept and what about its weight?

I can imagine a bank of check-out counters along one side of the aircraft next door to the open sided urinals (Ryanair's version of the pissoir).

In reality, I suppose the customers would select their groceries from a catalogue, probably some sort of digital one, and collect them or more likely have them delivered later.

Ryanair will, of course, stop at nothing to save money. On a less ludicrous note, they wanted one of their new B738 batches to be delivered without window blinds, but they couldn't do that because the Irish aviation authority requires all commercial airliners registered in Ireland to have blinds fitted. On an insane note, is it true that RYR were planning to have a "standing section" on planes so more people could fit on? If untrue, then I'm not surprised, because if that was true there would be all sorts of safety issues (where'd people go at takeoff and landing?).

Michael O'Leary the airline's CEO once said he wanted to introduce standing sections on his aircraft. I'm never really sure how serious he is at times. I can't help thinking that some of his comments that are outrageous to many are designed to keep Ryanair in the public eye.

He suggested charging passengers to use the toilet on another occasion.

Oh yes, the famous "Pay-per-Poo" service that was seized upon by so many of the newspapers after O'Leary made the announcement commenting that it was a "slow news day".

I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
