As well as the new base in Funchal I see there are going to be two routes to Portugal (Lisbon and Porto) where they will be going head to head with TAP on the route. I wonder how many of the routes they will be flying are also TAP routes? This seems to be Ryan flexing their muscles at TAP's expense. Does anyone else read it that way?

Out of the 10 routes, just the two you mentioned are also operated by TAP, which are the two busiest routes from the airport handling almost 1.4million passengers in 2019.

The only other routes that Ryanair face competition on are Stansted (Jet2, EZY at LGW, BA at LHR) and Manchester (Jet2 & EZY), and unsurprisingly, theses are the 3rd (Gatwick) and 4th (Manchester) busiest routes from Funchal. Stansted is the 10th busiest route from Funchal.

So 6 out of 10 routes are unserved, whereas the other 4 are the largest markets out of Funchal.

Maybe not as aggresive as I initially thought then. Having said that however, TAP will not be pleased as they are the prime movers of people from Portugal to Funchal.

London Luton-Shannon
London Stansted-Venice Treviso
East Midlands- Warsaw Modlin, Łódź, Malta
Edinburgh- Rome Fiumicino

Hopefully they might get added back soon. But that’s the routes been removed currently.

Arrived in Stockholm from Liverpool and we used an airbridge which I've not experienced with FR before. Looks the norm here.
That's something, that has always puzzled me. I've watched many YouTube flight reviews of flights arriving at places like Palma, showing Ryanair aircraft parked with airbridges attached. Yet, we never seem to see this in the UK. Is this down to charges for airbridges?
As for Stockholm, it's a beautiful city (I've been fortunate enough to visit several times on business). I don't know if you've visited Stockholm before, but I highly recommend the Vasa Museum, if you have time.

Thank you, I actually went onwards to Malmo, so no time in Stockholm, however I've friends in both cities so will return to Stockholm on another occasion.

Vassa is amazing. Makes the Mary Rose look pretty pathetic! Beautiful city, shame about alcohol prices though.
