Cape Verde would be an interesting one.

The block times are so long that a there and back is all the aircraft could so in a day, so basically would require a dedicated aircraft on the days it operates.

The other factor is whether the 737NGs have the range for it. Although TUI have on occasion used the NG, they predominantly use the 737MAX, 767 or 787. My guess is Cape Verde would only be served by bases that either have A330s or A321NEOs based.

Which let’s face it will be most U.K. bases and probs BFS.

And given how modest Jet2 grow destinations, the fact that this will mostly be winter destination from majority of bases, I would say the 21NEO will easily do it.

However as you pointed out the NG needs also to be used and I can see Egypt before Cape Verde. Given the fact the NG can easily do Egypt from most bases. The NEO is for capacity.

Interesting times ahead ….

Reading Jethros the first A321Neo is expected to be delivered sometime in April it’s also in the Jet2holidays scheme.

According to Jethro's first A321neo will be registered G-SUNB. Not sure if they will continue with the G-SUN_ sequence as there are a number that aren't available.
Possible name could be 'Sunbeam' perhaps?

My first flight was in April to Barcelona. What amazed me, was the fact that the flight times were longer than PMI.

So I guess thats where the Airbus sims Jet2 purchased a few years have gone too?

I suppose it makes sense to have the Airbus sims at the new Manchester Training facility seen as that's where the Airbus A321 fleet & crews are all currently based, whilst it will compliment it's Bradford based training facility.

I find that a little annoying if I'm honest. A short trip over the hill to Bradford shouldn't be too big a deal. As the 737-800 aircraft slowly depart the fleet this will probably eventually lead to the closure of the Bradford facility. Jet2 need to remember their roots, it's what made them the success they are today. It wasn't by coincidence they chose Leeds as their first base.
I agree with you but they tend not to look back. Manchester is their major base so perhaps inevitable thats where their infrastucture will slowly migrate to.

Yet there a major employee in Leeds area and continue to recruit.

Manchester’s a major base for EasyJet, for TUI yet neither have HQ in those bases or any plans to move them.

Currently Jet2 seem far more astute than most other carriers in the past, but I get where you are coming from. Think the big difference with LS is they are always looking to be innovative and looking to stay ahead of their rivals. The NEOs will also help reduce CO2 - the recent Look North article covered that. Long live Jet2!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
