I find that a little annoying if I'm honest. A short trip over the hill to Bradford shouldn't be too big a deal. As the 737-800 aircraft slowly depart the fleet this will probably eventually lead to the closure of the Bradford facility. Jet2 need to remember their roots, it's what made them the success they are today. It wasn't by coincidence they chose Leeds as their first base.
It won't lead to the closure at all. It costs hundreds of thousands to move a simulator!!

The 300 Sim was moved to Gatwick to make space for an Airbus sim. Then all of a sudden Cheadle was bought! Other options were a place in the Midlands, but taking on Thomas Cook's old site made more sense. It was already made for housing simulators!

Whilst Cheadle can grow, the CAA always questioned plan B if Bradford were to suffer a catastrophe, so a second centre was required! Bradford won't go anywhere!

Just read on planespotters.net that G-SUNB was originally going to be G-JZDA but was not taken up on that registration. Maybe we will see future A321NEOs with the G-JZDx registrations

G-JZDA/B/C have been registered as 2nd hand 737-800s from Flyr although that’s not to say that the later A320/21N deliveries will continue on from G-JZDD and so on, as they is a mix of 737-300s and -800s in the G-GDF* lot of aircraft.

The A321's have always been coming for Summer. They always lease in Titan for Summer @ STN. It's an aviation relationship that dates back to 2014.

Hi Fly begun last year and unlike Smart Lynx it would appear they behaved better and are welcome back.

That maybe case, but its only just been confirmed which Airbus A321 frames that are been leased, hence my update.

I think think I'm posting in the right place as this is about an airlines response to a particular situation.

There's a short item in todays personal finance pages of the much maligned Daily Mail regarding customer service. A lady needed to return to Leeds urgently as her mother had been given just days to live, while on the flight her son received call from hospital to say her mother (his grandmother) had deteriorated and had just hours left.

The aircraft was already in the air but he phoned Jet2 anyway to explain and asked if there was anything they could do to which the reply was we will do what we can. He took the answer as just a standard customer service type reply - WRONG. On landing the passengers were asked to remain seated while the lady concerned was escorted off rushed to the front of the immigration queue, taken to a waiting taxi (paid for) and her luggage delivered to door a few hours later.

Two more potential life long customers for plus a few more recommendations no doubt.

Lucky she wasn't on Wizz.

For further information about B738 leases, OM-JEX and OM-MEX were operating from EMA Thu to Sat last week.
There’s also 2 smartwings B738s OK-TSR and TVH based at BHX

Along with another Air Explore OM-HEX that’s still waiting on confirmation of base.

It’s tit for tat but i make only 5 available and more so stands 1, 5 & 6 can only take aircraft up to the 737-300, even the EMB190 struggles on them so there’s no chance of putting the 800’s anywhere near.

I do understand why, however i find it so hard to swallow. Most would say it’s the tip of the iceberg and i suppose they’d be right but I’ve been to many of our UK airports and I’ve yet to see this at any of them other than in extreme circumstances. Concrete is of course expensive there’s no doubting it yet they seem to find a way and they certainly don’t wait until capacity is reached or in our case exceeded. GLA, EDI, EMA, BRS to name a few have all laid extra stand capacity in recent years.

Back to Jet2, I’m really happy things are back on track, future expansion is confirmed with the neo’s and I’ve heard a new base should be announced shortly.
Southampton would be a good bet as a new base once their new runway extension is built. The South coast area isn't covered by Jet2 and customers have to travel up to Stansted or across to Bristol. Southampton will be potentially the last piece in the jigsaw.

I've said this before, Jet2 seem to go for twinning of bases to reduce costs through shared resources. For that reason I'd go with Luton.

I may be being thick, but what to you mean by "twinning of bases"?

I've heard rumours of a Gatwick base, and Jet2 have been flying what I assume are charter flights from LGW for the past year now. I doubt Luton has room for a base until their expansion happens (if it is eventually approved), plus Luton's catchment is largely already served by Stansted, Birmingham and East Midlands.

Leeds growth is constrained for time being, even though we get an additional based aircraft next summer. Jet2 seem happy with the airport to park up park aircraft all over place and tug to stand each morning.

London Gatwick has been a Jet2 charter base for past 2 winter seasons with up to 4x based B738s aircraft using crews from other bases. eg Leeds & Manchester. Now getting slots for summer is going to be another issue which won't be easy or cheap.

I'ld say Southampton, Bournemouth, Southend, Exeter could all potentially be on the cards for Jet2's next base. I'ld even throw Teesside into the hat if the well known Tory mayor is willing to waste some more of tax payers money or even Cardiff if the Welsh government want to throw some money at them too

My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
