Hi Ian, how do I remove? Thanks
Don't worry, mate! The information is now publicly available.
Unless you are a Premium member of F4A, you have just 10 minutes to edit or delete a post. After that, it would be down to a Moderator to make changes. I doubt that will happen (as I said the info is now publicly available).
The flight has departed OAK and can be viewed on FR24. Latest ETA at BHX is 17.46.

Regards

Kevin

As a group we just need to be a little careful what we post when it comes to sensitive flights.
FR24 is an automated process and no one stops to think 'lets not allow this flight to be tracked'
But we can be responsible and use common sense !

I agree, with your comments regarding sensitive flights. But this is not a sensitive flight. The UK Government have been very open in allowing the media to report where all previous repatriation flights would land and where those unfortunate individuals will be held for quarantine. If it was so sensitive, they would have stopped the BBC or any other British media from reporting it.

Of course the BBC will be all over it as they love all the hype !
But we should do the right thing and be more sensitive !
If others don’t agree that’s fine

I see they're using a cargo plane to bring them home. Are they stored like boxes? Also plane is cruising over the US at only 27000 feet - lack of passenger-grade pressurization?

The 747 freighter is capable of normal cabin pressurisation and air conditioning up to 45,100ft, just the same as the passenger version. But there will be no emergency passenger oxygen available for the passengers if cabin pressure were lost, which is why they won’t operate at normal cruise levels.

Also it would be interesting to see what would happen if there were a need to evacuate on the ground, there are no escape slides on the main deck!

Interesting! I wonder why they didn't use a USAF troop carrier - too panic-inducing?

But nobody was reporting why the flight was due, just that a B747 was due. It was only by Ian kicking up a fuss that the reason for the flight was given.

Before that as far as 'Joe public' only knew a B747 was due, just a normal insignificant flight.
It is not rocket science to work out bearing in mind it is from Oakland
A few alarm bells should have rang !!
These people are enduring a 12 hour flight home in challenging conditions this is why it SHOULD NOT HAVE POSTED
Move on !

In all honesty whilst I each and every post that is made I had not not put two and two together on this subject.

Hopefully we can stop 'escalating concerns' where it is not necessary - except in our own minds. Having said that I trust that our American cousins have checked all disembarking cruise passengers before letting them land.

Move on? Your the only one making a fuss on it tbh. So perhaps heed your own advice.

It was publicly viewable on FR24 and BHX is a publicly accessible site. As said, if you have an issue take it up with FR24 as they had it on their site. No one had mentioned the reason for the visit and while you are a clued up enthusiast with inside details may know it's visit not everyone else would. A cargo aircraft coming from OAK wouldn't have nessisarily been added up by Joe blogs.

Anyway its out in the public and you are the only one getting all hyped up about it being posted so ill leave you to sit and stew. No skin off my nose.

yes move on.Sorry Ian but with all you shouting your are looking ridiculous.

I hope these type of flights don't become a subject we avoid as after all this is a discussion forum and as long as we continue to be polite and give each other respect then it will continue to be so and we can have friendly debates. People have their different opinions and that's okay. That said, here are my thoughts on it.

If this information wasn't in the public domain, I can understand why it would be inconsiderate of us to talk about it. However, with the current virus being pretty much mentioned in every news article, every social media post and every conversation, it is hard to avoid it.

I would like to think that if either government or the airline wanted this to be out of the public eye, it certainly would be. The aircraft wouldn't appear on FR24 and the flight would arrive late in the evening/early morning to be as subtle as possible.

Furthermore, this isn't the first repatriation flight to catch any public attention, if anything I think it has far less. Not so long ago the Wamos 747 coming back from Wuhan was the headline on pretty much every UK media site and Sky even sent a news helicopter to circle Brize Norton. It isn't exactly a new or secret thing

The main and genuine interest I have seen on the forum was just in the aircraft and how unique it is to BHX. I also only found this information from somewhere else, so F4A is NOT the source of this information either. It was reported on another site hours before being mentioned on here.

I would personally be quite excited to see the aircraft on the ground at BHX. However, the circumstances that have/are bringing it here, are quite dire and should be addressed respectfully and appropriately.

That's my take on this, if anyone has thoughts to the contrary please tell me, but let's keep it respectful and reverent guys we all have one common interest and that's why we're here

This movement was known about beforehand and has been kept off the public forum for obvious reasons and Ian was probably quite right to ask for it to be removed (if I had been on last night I would have done so myself but it was way past my bed time).

I will point out that this is in no way having a go at the original poster who I assume did so in good faith without knowing the reasons behind it.

Now that the info is out there it probably doesn't matter either way so time to draw a line under this one.

We can now consider the matter closed.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
