Apparently there are several airports waiting for FR to announce their plans for Faro, they are embroiled in a dispute with the Portugal's airport authority, over a rise in airport fees. They have removed one aircraft from Madeira already, and cutting back on flights to Oporto. Let's hope CWL will be lucky when they decide what they are going to do in Portugal, if they they are not perhaps FR would look at PMI.
I personally think if Ryanair were going to launch PMI then they'd have done it by now, hopefully this spat with the airport operators in Portugal will be resolved and we see Faro go onsale. It's a route CWL needs to have and the loss of it would add to the negativity that's around the airport and doesn't look good after the recent WalesOnline article.

Ryanair have added extra dates and flights on the Dublin route over Xmas and New Year.
There's extra flights on the 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th December and 3rd and 4th January.

And some say FR have no desire to anything more form CWL…

Every little helps!

With Easyjet opening a base at BHX, various expansion from EZY, FR and Jet2 across the UK, it really is disappointing that CWL isn't getting a look in, even if it's just a few flights from other bases that we know work (ALC, PMI, FAO, TFS etc)
I am remaining optimistic that there is something in the pipeline and could just be the fallout from the Portugal cut backs. FR are still announcing routes and bases for next summer, so there is time.

The odd thing about Faro is that there is 1 flight on sale at the end of March. Personally i had hoped for at least PMI but they are still adding and hopefully we'll see Faro at least go onsale but it does seem CWL is being left behind a bit route wise.

The oddity of that one flight in March is also showing for Exeter to Faro as well, so maybe it's in the offing for both airports on that route.

Finally the wait has paid off

ALC & TFS start next summer

That's great news, apparently its twice weekly to ALC and once weekly to TFS. I know its only three flights a week, but it will mean well over a 1000 passengers per week, and if it was kept on all year round, well over 52,000 passengers a year, a very welcome addition to CWL figures.

I’m very surprised they haven’t added PMI given that the airport is crying out for it…

The only other hope is VY

I don't think we'll see anymore from Vueling for next summer just hope Ryanair put Faro onsale.

It's fantastic news! Completely missed it and only just seen the news!

So once it all goes onsale then Ryanair will (hopefully) operate in Summer 2024
Dublin 6 weekly
Malaga 3 weekly
Faro 2 weekly? (Fingers crossed)
Alicante 2 weekly
Tenerife 1 weekly
That would hopefully be 5 destinations and 14 weekly departures.
It is a shame that they didn't go for Mallorca as well as that would've completed the set of the main sun routes. Maybe next year?

It's not too late for PMI yet. Exeter has been announced, but none of yesterdays announcements are actually on sale yet, so still time for more.

Well over 4 million steps taken this year already. And about 12,500 photos.
The joys of travel. Train from Edinburgh to Leeds is cancelled so having another night in Edinburgh and heading back in the morning!
Tbf Edinburgh isn't a bad city to be stuck in.
A week off work done which resulted in 6 day trips , 50 miles walked and only 2500 photos, Going to work is more of a holiday as I tended to be out of my flat an hour earlies in my week off and back for after 8pm
according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.
