It is to be hoped that travellers who have no interest in aviation realise that they are still effectively booking and flying with Ryanair even though the name and livery of the airline are different.
I have a feeling any aircraft might still be in Ryanair colours as I haven't seen any liveried Malta Air aircraft on Twitter or Instagram.

Ryanair have bought the remaining part of Laudamotion. They bought 75% a while back, and have now bought the remaining 25%.

I've noticed no six nations flights to Dublin have been loaded up so far. Last 2 years they've been loaded in September.

Raining in Malta as well as Cardiff. Least it made them feel at home weather wise.

Could well be Buzz airlines/Air Malta rather than Ryanair themselves.
I can't see Buzz launching anything as they are Eastern European based, if it was Malta Air I'd have thought it would be Italy Rome probably as I believe that they have taken that over. Personally I'd have thought it would either be Ryanair from something like Alicante or Ryanair or Lauda from Mallorca.
And welcome to forum4airports!

The one thing that is always certain about Ryanair announcements is that if they happen, they're almost impossible to second guess!
If there is an imminent announcement incoming, I'd make my guess, in decreasing likelihood...
1. Lauda route to PMI.
2. Ryanair route to bucket and spade destination.
3. Ryanair Dublin route.
4. Other Ryanair route.
5. Malta Air route - FCO.
6. Buzz route.

1. This one has been rumoured to be on its way for a little while now. PMI is usually CWL's best seasonal route, so it seems logical this would be high up the pecking order for expansion. Since Lauda have recently announced Bournemouth- PMI, CWL would be on par with this. Announcement of Lauda on this route would be a heavy duty nail into Vueling's coffin at Cardiff.

2. As mentioned above by Jerry above, a highly likely route would be Alicante, which is another route similar to FR's offering at CWL already. This again, would be problematic for Vueling.

3. This may seem like an unlikely option given Flybe's up to 3x daily schedule, however this route does have its merits. The type of customers a Ryanair route would attract, and did when it operated, are high volume mutual tourism between the two cities, something the Welsh Gov is keen to increase. Flybe's route is more attractive to business and connecting passengers for Aer Lingus to America. Following Mrs Bowen-Rees's recent comments on CWL's targeting of a transatlantic route, I don't know how much value the airport would place on a Dublin connection diluting these passengers anyway, especially when KLM from AMS is in this market too. From FR's perspective, an early DUB arrival could easily operate their entire current CWL schedule with a later return to DUB. This could continue the successful TFS route as well without the cost of basing at CWL.
There's also the fact that for the first time in years FR aren't offering DUB flights for the six nations on their booking engine, which rather than being a shame, could be a symptom of an imminent full schedule on this route.

4. This is now getting into the realms of unlikely, a Ryanair route to a non bucket and spade route. There are however growing trends towards cultural city breaks, as seen by the success from agents in the region such as Signature Travel that specialise in this area. It seems like every person and their dog in South Wales has visited Krakow recently (in laws are there at the moment)! While CWL wouldn't be able to sustain a business route to an European city, a city destination such as Krakow or Prague would definitely attract an acceptable outbound tourist crowd.

5. Italy, following Flybe's decimation of their European offerings from CWL, is now woefully underserved. As mentioned with FR routes to city break destinations, FCO would definitely attract this crowd, along with those looking for a bit of sun. Malta Air looking for expansion, they would more than likely be the operator on this route if it was going to come to fruition.

6. Buzz, going through a rebranding at the moment from Ryanair Sun, would probably have higher priorities than entering a potentially risky route and market in the form of CWL. None the less, as mentioned in number 4, there is a potential market there, so it is, however remotely, possible.

Only mentioned to cover all bases (juicy pun), a FR base at CWL at the moment is probably just a fantasy. If APD were to be devolved, this will more than likely change, but as things stand, I can't see it looking imminent.

Knowing CWL's luck lately, any announcement would probably be a slight increase in frequency to an existing route or even a formal announcement of the closure of the TFS route!

Just to mention, I have no contacts or inside information in the industry, this is just my two (or in this case more like twenty) cents on the issue.

Krakow and Prague do always seem to get mentioned a lot elsewhere but they operate Krakow from Bristol and I'd have thought that if they would operate Prague it would be to Bristol. I think Rome would have more of a chance as it's a route more similar to Barcelona.
Rome and Mallorca would be great additions!
As for Dublin would they need to a heavy schedule? 4 weekly might attract a decent amount of leisure traffic.

Krakow could also pick up some VFR traffic for the Polish community.
