Jan down 1%. The snow closures haven't helped.

2013 496324 (Enfidha still to be added)
2012 501583
2011 522765
2010 521185
2009 561604

Rolling year 8911205 +3.8%

Just a -1% reduction for January is not bad at all considering the reductions seen at some other airports.

Neighboring East Midlands saw a -13.3% reduction in passenger numbers during January. Luton airport saw a -1.8% reduction and Bristol Airport saw a -1.6% reduction during the same month.

I believe that the snow had a debilitating effect on the January passenger figures at most UK airports.

Not only were many of the airports themselves directly affected but also the likes of AMS, CDG and BRU which caused UK flights to be cancelled when the 'home' UK airports were open.

March pax down 0.8%

BHX 625741 -08% rolling year 8908430 +3.7

Movements 6140 -7% - rolling 82953 +0.3

Baby were still operating last year and the Monarch programme for March this year is reduced.

Long haul is slightly better Islamabad just over 11,000 only 500 short of LHR, Emirates was 45,000 slightly down on last year but definitely improving and United was slightly up.

A couple of Euro routes were down owing to a cut in capacity, Turkish up 21% but last year it was still 5x weekly.

Re: Birmingham Airport Rumours

Does any know how many passengers flew out of Birmingham Airport in January,February and March this year thanks

Hi Andrew, Not sure about January and February but here are the March Figures.

CAA Passenger Stats for March 2013

During March a total of 625,741 passengers used Birmingham airport, down -0.8% on the same month last year. Rolling year passenger numbers stand at 8,908,430, up 3.7% on the previous 12 months.

Hi Andy,

They've just been released and it's not good reading, Pax April 2013: 649881 -7.4%.

The timing of Easter this year won't have helped and it's the first full month after the loss of Bmibaby with Monarch's programme not really getting into full swing until May this year. That said it's still pretty poor and whilst Mr Kehoe seemingly keeps chasing the odd long haul service I can't help but think BHX's attention needs to be on developing it's core services across Europe.

The one positive is Pax Rolling Year 8,856,770 +2.9% on previous year.

Source CAA.

May passengers 847869 +7.3, rolling year 8914193 +3.4.

Not had much time to look at the individual routes but EWR was slightly down as was ISB (but more pax than LHR). IST is growing nicely with the extra capacity seeing the route at +51 and DXB was +14.

As for the new bmi regional routes that started on the 13th May Toulouse saw 541 pax, Gothenburg saw a more healthy 1539 pax, Lyon saw 2782 but bmi regional dropped to 3x weekly before it started as Flybe are 6x weekly on the route.

Billund started in June.

3.4% up on last year would put it over 9 million which is a good sign if it keeps improving.

June 2013 943863 up 3.4% with rolling year 8945360 up 3.1%.

ATM 8494 up 5.9%

Second highest June ever with 2005 the highest at 960419.

Istanbul was up 37% with a mid 80's load factor (10 weekly this year up from daily last year), Dubai up nearly 8% with a load factor of around 75% and Newark up 5.5% with a 92% load factor.

It's good to see the airport bouncing back after such a long period of staticity.

Do you really think that Birmingham Airport this year can equall its 2008 figures of 9,627,589, or are we going to have to wait until after runway extension has opened next year from May 2014 that it will top 2008 passengers then......Andy C

2008 probably won't be beaten, but it should be over 9 million. The presence of Air India and Airblue should help it.

Birmingham airport seems to be going from strength to strength. I'm sure it wont be long before there's a new record. So far as long haul goes, Birmingham is where Manchester was back in the early 90's so it's some way behind but it didn't take long for Manchester airport to forge ahead when it reached it's critical mass. I am sure Birmingham airport will do the same once it's on a level playing field with it's new runway extension.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
