I am sure we will have much more to come too as we work our way towards 2026

Looks like it's 3 daily Saturdays and 4 daily Sundays too, so not just weekdays getting an increase. Let's see if U2 respond in any way and continue the good news!
I seem to remember easyJet have already increased their offering for next summer? If so then this increase is Emerald Airways' /Aer Lingus's response.

Interesting to see Sean M posting on X that Emereld are reducing BHD - MAN, NCL, EMA & NQY for S24. MAN has EZY for competition at BHD. good to see our frequencies at present still be maintained.
I can't help wonder if that will last, as it was noticeable from the recent passenger figures that Easyjet's passenger numbers on the Leeds to Belfast route had increased significantly, and they appear to have increased forthcoming frequencies too. With a more reliable service on larger aircraft you have to wonder what the eventual outcome will be. There's definitely a need for both, given Belfast City's proximity to the city, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the market share change somewhat.

We do know that LBA-BHD was a very strongly performing route for Flybe so no surprise it does well for Emerald too. Aircraft type is a worry though as prone to cancellations and diversions. Plus the talk of Emerald stretching their ops too much may also be impacting things. Moving on to Easyjet I think them doing well out of LBA has to bode well for some wider ops for them in the future but great to hear them doing well on BFS. Competition is of course healthy for the consumer. But overall again a reflection of how well LBA as a whole is performing. Long may these two carriers, along with others, prosper at LBA

I put together a table showing the total weekly departures to Belfast from all UK airports for in August 2024. It shows the weekly departures and also weekly departing seats based on the types of aircraft scheduled to operate.
As you can see, LBA has a good number of weekly departures per week in comparison to airports of similar size, mostly served by smaller ATR72 aircraft. You can see easyJet is becoming a major player at BHD (Belfast City) but only operates there from some of it's UK bases (LGW, LTN, MAN, LPL, GLA, BRS).

Incredible how many flights we have from LBA to DUB with Aer Lingus and Ryanair each week.

And also the belfast airports!
Its a shame this aint the case across the board to european airports inc paris, brussels and frankfurt. The Dublin and belfast routes show to a degree demand is there, of course frequency and times of op are important too.

Without wishing to be negative the one on going concern will be the performance of the ATRs through the LBA winter weather. That said, looking at it positively, it's clearly not putting Emerald off in any way but do just wonder whether they may be better starting to look at Embraers or perhaps A319/A220 if they could get their hands on any. I am sure the pent up LBA demand would happily support one of the smaller single aisle jets and would certainly enhance the customer experience and improve operational reliability a little bit

Winter and ATR…not compatible…..

Interesting post on the dried fruit forum (Southampton thread) about losses incurred by Emerald last year that were apparently EUR 21m. Not a great performance overall but judging by their commitment and frequencies at LBA on both DUB and BHD I suspect we are at least contributing favourably - and long may that continue. I am sure ATR parts and availability issues are one major factor in their financial performance though. How many times have we always said LBA has so much untapped potential. Their frequencies are hopefully proving this and we know BHD was a strong performer for BE. What perhaps concerns me here is Stobart went belly up and whilst yes there were wider issues, was the EI franchise a contributing factor. I do hope Emerald can turn this around or have some deep pockets

Well Emerald Airlines has started to trim there summer flight schedules along with some routes ending at the end of the summer schedule. They also have an additional ATR72 joining the fleet imminently which should help with reliability problems.

Later this month they desertifying from just been an Aer lingus franchise operator by starting a London Gatwick to Dublin route as a British Airways Franchise service.

These frequencies are theoretical. How many happen in practice remains to be seen with the weather sensitive ATRs
A negative response. I wouldn't say theoretical. Its what is on sale. The diversion rate isn't even that high. An airbus would be more desirable but i cant see that happening unless EZY opt for City also. Compared to other airports, EI have a great frequency from LBA. shouldn't be sniffed at

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
