We went to Malta for our honeymoon and really loved it. It's not the kind of place you'd want to go if you like beach holidays although there is one. It's ideal for people who like to explore and for those who like cosmopolitan cafe culture.

We stayed in a the Fortina Spa Resort Hotel in Sliema overlooking Valletta, the Capital city of Malta. Nearby you can catch Captain Morgan's tour boats across to Valletta for a reasonable price.

Excursions available include trips to Gozo, Wine tasting at Marsovin and Mdina the old Capital City of Malta are all worth doing.

Spent the back end of November/early December 2014 in Malta. historic weather for that time is meant to be so-so but literally just had 45 minutes rain during my visit.... it was on the last day on the sightseeing hop-on hop-off tour bus in Gozo. Temperatures ranged for 19C through to 24C

Totally agree with it being a place to explore - hotel was in St Julians but only used that as a base. As I don't drive, it became buy your weekly bus ticket for €6 with journey planing to be done at home. Longest journey was only an hour or so. Not put all of the photos I took online but here are 3 albums:

Nice to hear some good talk about Malta. and congratulations.

I spent my 'formative' years on the island, lived there from 1985 to 1991, as a young teenager it was a great place to be. Tried plenty of Marsovin in those days. I got married there back in 2006, fond memories;
I have always had a soft spot for Air Malta, because of my frequent use.. Luqa airport was just a couple of old sheds and a very long runway, in those days, always reassuring when you are trundling along during take-off in an old KL Boeing 720B, or appraoching in a rapidly descending Libyan Arab 727-200... good days..
Glad you all enjoyed the Island, i know the Fortina well,, wasn't always what it is today.
