Prices are high tho, had a friend come from SYD last week considerably cheaper to LHR

If there were connecting from SYD, they would almost certainly be connecting onto the EK37/38 77W which has much better connections times to Australia compared to the EK39/40 flight.

Having looked at the loads, the likes QR/TK and especially SV are having an impact on the EK39/40 load which offered greater onward connection to south Asia.

Happy to be corrected but i believe yesterday, the inbound loads on both the SV78X and and EK388 were near identical... around 340 pax? Great for a 78X but not so great for a 388!

I'd say no. Every single time I've landed on an A380 its sounded like it's slammed down on the runway like in the video, with Etihad being the worst offender at it. Just my experience of A380 landings.
Flight cancelled ? I suspect that the engineer may be busy. SAR007 download and a LAT analysis will tell if a hard landing inspection may or may not be required.

Last time i went on one (pre-Covid), we didnt even notice touchdown. It did look a bit robust, without much of a landing flare. But given the crap weather, the manual may well - i suspect - suggest you fly it in to the runway (as Boeing advise on the 737 in all weathers).

The onboard video did make me laugh out loud though.

It did have a hard landing that required the usual immediate hard landing inspection but required Airbus being involved hence the delay and further inspections are required within a specific time period. Hard landings that involve A/C roll at touchdown where one main landing gear hits the ground 1st can complicate matters. The SAR007 data gives them all the info for a hard landing.

Every landing should be "slammed down", if that's what you want to call it. Trust me, you don't want to be on an A380 that's sauntering down the runway available length doing fairy touches before eventually gripping the runway.

Less than 30,000 behind Manchester in 2002, but more than 100,000 behind in 2003 and remained around that until 2012 when Manchester pulled further ahead.

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
