I really don't understand the issue. With the loss of Monarch & recently Primera Air it's good to see an airline/tour, that is financially stable, not taking too many risks and sticking to what it does best. Jet2 are the real replacement to Monarch at BHX, especially on the "costa del cheeses" (and i quote) routes. It's also not just Jet2 that have this market research, data - it's also BHX airport. They will want a replacement to the void left by Monarch as that brings passengers through the doors. Passengers bring money. Money brings revenue and profit. That equates to investment.
As always with Jet2 they don't release the Ski or City routes yet in winter, they wait a little before releasing the rest of the programme. I do see some expansion of the city routes PRG & KRK, especially November & December months with the Christmas markets. Also KEF is a "one off" route in March but who's to say that won't become a feature of the Winter programme. And a final note; Charters to Lapland from BHX will not be put on sale by Jet2.com but as talked about earlier Jet2 have 2 weekly charter flights to Lapland from mid/late November upto/after christmas. This could expand in 2019/2020.
Finally; It's Brexit year. I wouldn't expect many risks to be taken.
