They have always covered the UK well as we provide very valuable income for them for their onward connections from AMS. I always used to use them from MME rather than BA from MAN to LHR and onward when I was travelling to the Middle East and back. Many moons ago now but always a comfortable and pleasant flight (except once when a Garuda airframe was substituted for the usual DC10).

Presumably they are still benefiting from people who like Schipol as opposed to Heathrow although how their tie-up with Air France has affected this business one can only guess together with the general downward trend amongst legacy carriers since the LCC brigade entered the market. They have, despite all the negatives, maintained their regional presence which means, in my simple mind, that this business model is still working for them.

Already used them once this year to go to France, next trip is Seoul - first time long haul. I find it easier (and more choice) to route via AMS than LHR.

It is curious that they don't operate there. Hopefully the airport can get them back one day!

I think it would be worth them having another go, mind you they would need to expect a reaction from Easyjet like last time.

I've now merged the KLM thread with the Air France thread as there are posts on both airlines in both threads.

Yes

One of the conditions of the 7 billion euro French Government state aid package to Air France is a ban on the airline competing with the train on domestic routes where the rail journey time is two hours 30 minutes or less. This will prevent Air France selling tickets on flights from Paris to such places as Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes and Rennes unless the passenger is using such flights for connection purposes.

I'm guessing that if the majority of passengers are point-to-point these Air France routes will cease to exist.

Travel restrictions update:

KLM has taken note of the increase restriction across the UK. At this stage it is too early to assess the impact of these new measures on our flight schedule, but adjustments may be made.

To check the status of a flight to Amsterdam, click here: https://www.klm.nl/en/flight-status?destinationAirportCode=AMS&filter=C

Maximum flexibility:
To assist customers with the often changing travel restrictions, KLM has introduced a fully flexible commercial policy.
Customers can now request a refundable voucher of an unused ticket – with no fees and for whatever reason – for all tickets with a planned departure up and until 31 March 2021.

Customers then have the choice of buying a new ticket with the voucher or requesting a refund.
Click here for more information on these options: https://www.klm.com/travel/nl_en/prepare_for_travel/up_to_date/flight_update/index.htm

UK Network information:

We fly from 17 airports spanning England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to connect to your destination via Amsterdam.
In an ever changing world however, in agreement with our airport partner friends at Cardiff, Inverness, Southampton and Teesside Airports, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend services from these airports. We’re already planning our return, and services are set to resume mid-February.

You can fly #KLM from:
  • Aberdeen Airport
  • Belfast City Airport
  • Birmingham Airport
  • Bristol Airport
  • Cardiff Airport (temporarily suspended from 16 November to mid-February)
  • Edinburgh Airport
  • Glasgow Airport
  • Heathrow Airport
  • Humberside Airport
  • Inverness Airport (temporarily suspended to mid-February)
  • Leeds Bradford Airport
  • London City Airport
  • Manchester Airport
  • Newcastle International Airport
  • Norwich Airport
  • Southampton Airport (temporarily suspended from 23 November to mid-February)
  • Teesside International Airport (temporarily suspended to mid-February)

Interested to know if KLM will service EXT- it’s been showing on their booking system since the summer last year. But as of yet no flights physically bookable. Is anyone able to offering any clarity on this one?

@Matt kenshole Hi Matt, we can only surmise at this time that KLM are waiting for the airline industry to properly restart before they re look at Exeter. We know they do well from UK regional airports so there's every chance they will. There's so much uncertainty at the moment its understandable most of the aviation industry is on hold right now.
