Yep 1 to do Dubrovnik and Larnaca and 1 for Orlando.Summer 2020 Dreamliner Flights
Looking at the online Tui Flight timetable, the following flights are scheduled to operate. It maybe an error but on a Thursday 2 x Dreamliners are required........ see below:-
BRS website now showing TOM435 not expected until 2105 this evening - assuming the airport is open by then.https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/passengers-stranded-after-bristol-airport-2492884
TOM434 (Boeing 757) from Bristol to Hurghada today landed at Munich following a tchnical issue en route. TUI said the delay at Munich was not expected to be a long one.
The return flight, TOM435, due BRS at 2300 this evening is showing an eta of 0030 on Friday morning.
There has been lots of talk over this summers TUI base, mainly regarding the BRS based B752s being replaced with B738s. I thought I'd take a look at the summer 2019 programme vs summer 2018, and took a week in August as an example:
August 2018:
65x weekly departing flights - made up of:
29x B752 - TUI29x B738 - TUI4x B788 - TUI (1x Shorthaul, 3x Longhaul)1x A320 - Freebird1x A320 - Air Malta1x B738 - Neos
August 2019:
68x weekly departing flights - made up of:
58x B738 - TUI6x B788 - TUI (3x Shorthaul, 3x Longhaul)2x A320 - Freebird1x A320 - Air Malta1x B738 - NeosUsing the following numbers I've worked out weekly departing seats fo summer 18 vs 19:
300 seats for B788s,
221 seats for B752s,
189 seats for B738s,
180 seats for A320s
Summer 2018 - 13,639 seats
Summer 2019 - 13,491 seats
2018: Longhaul - 900 seats / 3x flights
2019: Longhaul - 900 seats / 3x flights
2018: Shorthaul by TUI - 12,190 seats / 59x flights
2019: Shorthaul by TUI - 11,862 seats / 61x flights
2018: Shorthaul by other carriers - 549 seats / 3x flights
2019: Shorthaul by other carriers - 729 seats / 4x flights
That's only a loss of 148 seats per week this summer!
Depends if the CAA think they are a danger to life i suppose. I'm sure they are in touch with Boeing and the FAA. I'd imagine if the FAA grounds them the CAA will follow suit.TUI has 8 737 Max 8 aircraft. Will they be forc3d to ground them by our CAA?
Easily compensate. The addtional easyJet aircraft will be flying 2/3 rotation each day as opposed to the equivalent loss of one rotation per week with TUI.So it’s not as bad as one thinks and the gain of an extra ezy 319 would more than compensate for the loss of passengers this summer. However it is still disappointing that tui wishes to reduce seats available from brs and wishes at the moment to replicate those losses in summer 2020 too .
A few airlines around the world have taken unilateral action and grounded their own aircraft. If regulatory authorities decide the entire type should be grounded that's going to be a hell of a problem for Boeing and for the airlines that already operate the type.TUI has 8 737 Max 8 aircraft. Will they be forc3d to ground them by our CAA?
There are a few weeks before the summer season kicks in. If the 737 Max 8s are still not allowed to fly by then it will be developing into a major problem for Boeing and the airlines that have purachased the type or are in the queue for orders. The CAA has prohibited the Max 8 from UK airspace this lunchtime.
So TUI will be forced to ground its planes based in Manchester. What will be the fallout at Bristol? As TUI has to find alternative planes and may draw from other bases.
Re Larnaca, I wonder if easyJet's new route there is a consideration.I just hope it’s a glitch but there seems to be significant cuts for the 2020 programme. Palma down to 3 weekly , skiathos and girona gone and larnaca reduces to once a week and not on the Dreamliner.
I don't think so. The 787 8s are 300 and the 9s are 350 I believe.Have TUI added more seats to their Dreamliners?
