First visit of G-JZBR

Just passing the Home Counties inbound from Alicante is Bravo Romeo, the newest of the 737-800 fleet to have been delivered. She went straight from Boeing Field to Manchester on delivery and has been based there ever since.

G-DRTG

Newly delivered just after 0600hr this morning was G-DRTG in a lovely all white (not!) scheme. She arrived via Astana in Kazakhstan, no winglets, and reportedly parked on one of the Cookridge stands.

Can't deny it is an impressive range of destinations and frequencies. But, I also can't get over the 'eggs in one basket ' scenario I'm witnessing. I really wish TUI and Thomas Cook hadn't effectively been seen off by Jet2 and I wish we had easyJet here as well to restore some kind of balance. At least we still have a Ryanair base and the continuing services of Flybe. God forbid the Jet2 bubble should burst.

The Jet2 bubble doesn't show any sign of bursting and the one really good thing they have done is prove the LBA demand. So if the worst ever did happen I don't think it would take long for someone to pick up the slack. Currently a very unlikely scenario we will find ourselves in though

Does anyone know the percentage of annual LBA passenger numbers that are carried by Jet2?

I remember when Ryanair fell out with Bergamo and it just about closed down !
The airport management were desperate to keep my companies operations [ overnight express delivery ]
Then then caved in to Ryanair and got them back and before you could blink an eye were trying to push us out to make more terminal building extensions.
Monopoly is not good in business the supermarkets use this ploy all the time with their suppliers.
This situation is not what any of us wanted and dressing it up as ok is what we have done every time when other airlines have withdrawn.
The airline is then the one blamed when we do not really know what caused the withdrawal.

Just had a look at the Bergamo departures board and 90% of them are Ryanair I didn’t realise they had such a large operation.

Milan would be a great addition to the LBA network I always thought Flybe would be great to serve it but now it seems unlikely at least for the moment.
Well Jet2 and Ryanair have operated to Milan from LBA (Jet2 to Milan Bergamo and Ryanair to Milan Malpensa, I think) in the past, and both pulled the route for some reason. So despite its reputation as a city, it doesn't seem to go down too well from LBA by the look of things.

I doubt it is to do with the city not going down well from LBA. It is more likely flight times and economics at that time. Milan is huge, places like Como and southern Switzerland are easily accessible as well as Italian Lake destinations (although VRN is better for them). If flight times and plane type are right it would be popular for business and leisure.

Ryanair flew to Bergamo, not Malpensa.
Had a day trip in September 2012, out on Ryanair, back on Jet2.

My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
wondering why on my "holidays" I choose to get up 2 hours earlier than when going to work. 6 trips in 6 days soon coming up with 3 more days to sort out
