This aircarft is only 12 years old....ex Shenzhen Airlines who have 80 of these in their fleet, why would they move it on as its still fairly young?
Its not fairly new to this airline, whoe's average age of its 737 and A320 fleet is just 7 years, so this aircraft is ancient in their fleet terms.

I think LBA should become the base for all the DRT regd 738s as when it comes to LBA, Jet2 are Dominant, Reliable, Trustworthy. I am sure there are some amusing options for the last letters of the series!

So here's you challenge now folks. Answers have to apply to the Jet2 network from LBA. The prompted question is: Do Rush To "blank". Starter for 10 could be A licence. As you can tell I am in one of those moods and don't expect you Bigman to let me down on this one

G-DRTB = Do rush to Budapest.

Accoding to a list I have seen the next 4 737/800s for Jet2 are:-
OY-PSE(c/n 30664) formerly operated by Primera
OY-PSH/YL-PSH(c/n 34247) formerly operated by Primera
VT-SPF(c/n 34896) formerly operated by Spice Jet
LN-NOX(c/n 37818) formerly operted by Norwegian Air Shuttle.

No UK registrations are allocated, but will be in the G-DRT- series

Jet2 have just released Summer 2020 flights for sale. Even better news is that we've not lost any routes. So currently as its stands peak (August 2020) there are 210+ planned weekly Jet2 rotations on sale from its Leeds/Bradford base.
I've not had time to check out yet to see if we've lost the based Boeing 757-200's or if we gained any extra based Boeing 737-300's & Boeing 737-800's

Just done a little more digging around the summer 2020 programme. Bad news is confirmed as the Boeing 757-200 is no longer showing operating any flights from LBA
The Saturday programme (For example using August 15th 2020) shows all 64 flights as being operated by 15 operational Leeds/Bradford based aircraft consisting of 4+ Boeing 737-300's & 11+ Boeing 737-800's as follows.

Boeing 737-300 = 1
LS489 = LBA 06:20 – LRH 09:05 / LS490 = LRH 09:45 – LBA 10:30
LS235 = LBA 11:15 – EGC 14:20 / LS236 = EGC 15:05 – LBA 16:05
LS273 = LBA 16:55 – ALC 20:50 / LS274 = ALC 21:25 – LBA 23:30
Boeing 737-300 = 2

LS175 = LBA 13:00 – JER 14:15 / LS176 = JER 14:45 – LBA 16:10
LS247 = LBA 17:00 – FAO 20:10 / LS248 = FAO 20:55 – LBA 00:10
Boeing 737-300 = 3
LS275 = LBA 07:00 – ALC 10:55 / LS276 = ALC 11:55 – LBA 13:55

LS441 = LBA 14:15 – FAO 17:25 / LS442 = FAO 18:10 – LBA 21:25

Not bad having 2x ageing Boeing 737-300's operating a 3x (6 flight) sector day.

I need to make more of an effort to get up to LBA this summer in that case. I'd like an updated collection of 757 photos before they disappear.

The one thing slight smaller planes does do seems to be increasing frequency and thus more choice for passengers. Will really miss the 75s though. Top quality piece of kit. Remember BA introducing them on the MAN LHR route and was in awe of their power. But nothing can go on forever. Let's hope our new terminal infrastructure does generate a new type to LBA!

@Offint Most of the 737-300 fleet are substantially younger than the 757 fleet. They are also, as with every aircraft and every UK based airline, highly maintained. They probably have parts on them that are younger than our cars.

So with the increase in frequency, but reduction in capacity due to loss of 757; I assume it will pretty much be status quo passengers carried?

Sad to see that the future focus of our fledgling airline is over the hill in Lancashire !
We have a good offering from them but Manchester is booming for so many airlines now and Jet2 they know the potential it has to be dominant and to make them money.

I think it’s more consolidating one aircraft type of operations into one base to keep things simple and not be thin on the ground when they would be left with 7/8 in the fleet. Sensible decision.

The future focus of our fledging airline is also going south to BHX/STN and not MAN. MAN overall has, as it stands, a decrease in weekly services over LBA which has an increase. MAN however probably has a substantial increase in number of seats available.
