Just read that Jet2 will be compensating customers flown home early from Spain, refunding the cost of un-used nights. Also that they will meet the difference of alternative flights home for those opting to stay and make their own way home.
The right thing to do.

Yet again, the airline and tour operator, providing proof in the pudding of the awards it has won in the last few months. Not that you needed any proof in any pudding but you know.

Bearing in mind that Jet2 are not just a holiday airline, there is no reason why they cannot carry seat only passengers on those otherwise empty outbound flights to Spain - perhaps people travelling back home to Spain or people with their own accommodation who are happy with a one way ticket.

wish I had a one way ticket out of here at the moment! thousands of ex pats out in spain who require seat only.

A few suggestions for Jet2 destinations this Summer...Newquay...Bournemouth....Blackpool. Sun (hopefully), sea, sand and no quarantine!!
so if this horrid virus was to continue into next year which is very likely and due to the fear of returning passengers having to go into quarantine, for peace of mind could we see uk destinations added to the jet2 destinations? Extra jersey flights, guernsey although I think they need a bit more runway length and upto Scotland?

Watched that BBC Coast programme once, and some very nice beaches around Aberdeen. And how about Southend, and maybe Norwich for Cromer and Great Yarmouth?

Was thinking Norwich myself, gateway to east Anglia although the drive time is not too long. Flights to Bergen, Norway i feel would be a good destination with easy access to the Norwegian fjords. Be nice to get wideroe on that route. Another good destination and one to compete against Iceland air and easy at MAN would be reykjavik

I too would love to visit the Scandinavian countries. Regarding COVID, however, Sweden isn’t currently in a great place.

I agree that Jet2 should maybe consider flights to the Channel Islands from Scotland, NI and Northern England (although I’m not sure how suitable their runways are for 737s). Areas in the Scottish Highlands and Islands can be accessed from INV, however it’s a small airport and many places are just as accessible either directly from GLA or via connecting flights from EDI or GLA. The problem is, good weather is far from guaranteed. The best tends to be in April/May, with July often being a washout. Many Brits just want a lazy holiday in the sun and sadly, as beautiful as they are, the UK’s most scenic spots simply cannot provide this. Also, most people won’t be willing to pay the price of a flight to somewhere they can quite easily drive, avoiding the hassles of airports, luggage constraints, mask-wearing, etc.

Maybe Jet2 should pitch in and get some redundant FlyBe Dash 8's and crew. These would be ideal for UK destinations. Another one I have thought of is Exeter for the Jurassic Coast and Torbay.

There's a little bit of rumouring that the Spanish authorities are expecting to agree exemptions from quarantine for the Canaries and Balearics sometime this week - I noticed Jet2 still have this weekend's programme still booked as planned for these destinations...... watch this space... the last time this was rumoured the UK authorities did the opposite and imposed blanket quarantine, I'm sure this will be the subject of intense talks to protect business and save aviation jobs..... also Easyjet have announced they are adding extra flights early, so do the airlines know something?
