I have just tried to check in for our holiday to Portugal to see if we have been allocated seats next to each other. Because of covid, the online check-in is now 14 days before departure, so they must be hoping that Portugal (and probably others) will be removed from the quarantine list.

I believe in the past it’s been 14 active not taking into account standby

3x 757-200
6(could be more)x 737-300
Remaining 5x 737-800.

I could be wrong. I’m sure @lbaspotter posted a few months ago S20 plan.

I think S21 will be whatever is remaining of the 300 fleet and then rest 800’s. So about 9 800’s maybe more.

Looking at a typical Saturday schedule in August 2021 it looks like Jet2 will require 8+ Boeing 737-800 & 7+ Boeing 737-300’s at LBA meaning 15+ aircraft in operational service. I would also expect there to be at least 1+ spare back up based Boeing 737-800 in reserve for tech issues..

There appears to be a number of 18:00-19:30 departure times on Saturdays S21 with them operated by based aircrafts to places such as FAO AGP PMI IBZ etc from various of the UK bases.

If memory serves me correctly, over the last few years isn't the average amount of aircraft we have around 15 anyway with atleast 1/2 on standby? Obviously over the previous years we've had 3 different aircraft types but for the foreseeable it will only be 2.

I think they should utilise every 733 when they can, they won't be around forever and are brilliant aircraft. The same goes for the 738's but with these they come and go all the time with routine maintenance/tails swaps etc.. The new ones will be the most used over the next coming years I would think with the older ones going on just one return flight a day.

I have now received a holiday cancellation email from Jet2 with 3 options;

1. Receive a voucher -contact them now.
2. Transfer the booking - contact them now
3. Receive a refund - wait until they contact me.

We had already decided that we would not book another holiday abroad this year so I await their call.

  • Due to the on-going COVID-19 situation all package holidays have been axed to Faro until October 31st, meanwhile flight only customers will still be able to fly to Faro.

I can't understand that, If I was flight only I would still be able to go. Surely the decision to go should be up to me, not Jet2?:unsure:

Think the cancellation of flights is purely on economic terms where countries are on the UK Government quarantine list. Jet2 are not going to fly empty aircraft just because you or anyone else decide to travel. Example of this, my friend went Ryanair last week from Leeds to Faro and including himself and his wife there were just 20 passengers on board. Airlines can not sustain fights with these low passenger numbers.

My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
wondering why on my "holidays" I choose to get up 2 hours earlier than when going to work. 6 trips in 6 days soon coming up with 3 more days to sort out
