For operational reasons Today's only BA shuttle BA1346/1347 LHR-LBA-LBA rotation has being cancelled.

yes as noted lots of fog at LHR which has slowed things down considerably leading to a number of cancellations. there was also fog at LBA too which didn't help.

Which only goes to show that even the largest, busiest and most sophisticated airports in the UK suffer flight disruption caused by bad weather, not just LBA.

Difference is most of those destinations have mang flights a day, we only have one so it will be a much larger impact especially for business passengers. If your flight to FCO’s cancelled they will be another in maybe less than an hour with BA.

It was fog spilling over out of the Wharfe Valley in the direction of the airport. By mid morning it was clearing back into the valley although it was still foggy down there early afternoon. Hopefully with the change in weather tonight it won't climb out of the valley and tumble down over the airport again tonight. Not sure if the early Aer Lingus made it in or not but everything else did.

The fog is still lingering in parts of the Aire Valley so unless there is any significant change we're likely to see more extensive fog again later this evening.

Lost the Southampton to Humberside too but lots of auto lands being made by Ryanair and Klm so not too much damage done to our operations.I noted the earlier a Jet 2 B737-800 needed a dry runway to auto land with a 7 kt tailwind which is what drives me bananas about the landing distance issues.

fight to win
i would have thought if it was possible to move it back it would have have been done by,dont forget its present position was part of the package which gave lba its much fought over extended hours agreement with leeds council.

Not quite Snowman, it was part of the package that gave us our new longer runway, so was in place from 1984, some 12 years before we finally removed the shackles of having to close at bedtime. I think we all share your frustration Fight2Win, but as previously explained, moving the touch down point back to where it used to be isn't something that can be done 'just like that'. Firstly, it will need planning approval and you can only imagine the grief the airport will get from those at the Horsforth end who will suddenly find aircraft are a good deal lower as they pass over their houses. Secondly, doing so would require the complete alteration of the airfield and approach lighting - lighting that is still being replaced with new LED systems, and thirdly, it would mean a complete change to the ILS system. All hugely expensive and hugely disruptive if you want to keep the airport operating at the same time. I have spoken to LBA's ATC chief's on numerous occasions over the years, asking about this, and the general consensus has always been that they only wish they could! Just as they only wish they could have Cat 3 on runway 14.
